Part one of six. Oh gosh, I hope I don't have to write this for the fifth time............................I completed The Glendale Yard about two years after a 5yr. solo effort to replicate my childhood neighborhood (playground) circa 1945-1960 in Glendale/Brooklyn, New York, USA. The railroad ran right through our backyard and was the perfect backdrop for the dream of a model railroad in my home that mirrored a happy time and adventure for a skinny little kid that was faster than the RR Police and the neighborhood bullies.
Most structures I scratch built by hand and as I progressed with the overall construction, I exercised a bit of artistic license in order to morph in a model RR to work with the prototypical landscape and to stick with the period. It all started with the large (A&P) warehouse that I also scratch built. It was the constant in the area and the distant Switcher Engines rumble, horns and squealing wheels were a lullaby that always put me to sleep. Let us continue this in part two. 😃
