This is the musical sound track to a film idea.

NB it is nearly 18 minute long.

The Assassin

The soundtrack is best listened to through headphones to ensure all effects are heard

The film is set in Europe with the background plot portraying the journey of a hired killer who
has been given a task of assassinating a high profile ambassador.

The music logically follows the flow of the scenes.

Scene 1

The opening scene is set in the train station, with the assassin clear in his mind of his task.
He takes the purposeful steps from the stations basement level, leading to the upper main door
to the platforms. The station announcer is heard and the sound of a train arriving.
The train screeches to a halt and gun shots are heard. The ambassadors falls to the ground and his team surround him trying to save his life, but looks like the shot was fatal.
As the ambassador lies dying on floor of the carriage, one of the ambassador’s team gets a clear sight of the assassin. He must escape and quickly.
He hurdles the tracks and quickly escapes on an outbound train.

The escape on the train is a nervous one as the assassin was sure that he was seen. His thoughts then lead to the fact that he must also take out this advisor, as he is the only one who in affect can vindicate him.
His life is becoming too dangerous. He lives in constant fear.  The constant toll of these hired jobs, often with him failing to collect the payment.
As the journey proceeds his thought return to his childhood. He was an orphan, who escaped and got in with the wrong crowd. Since his 20’s, all he had known was that of being a paid mercenary. He knew no other life, but knew this was wrong. His usual carefree attitude now led to thoughts of guilt and remorse.

The train stops on a single platform in a remote village, he exits constantly in fear that word
has already been spread of the shooting of the ambassador.
Far from being religious man, he decides to seek refuge and solace from the church.

Scene 2 - The church

Inside the church he confides in the local padre and asks for help. He fears of the authorities and pleads for help. The killers thoughts are that purely our forgiveness, but as padre has already had news of the ambassador’s death and since the killer has all but confessed to this to him, he is duty bound to assist.
Far from spiritual help, the holy man provides a contact and the offer of reassurance that help is at hand.

He is told of a contact of the clergy that will meet him at the airfield, 1 mile south of the village.
He will be able to assist perhaps. The assassin thanks the padre and leaves on foot heading to the airfield.

Scene 3

The killer arrives at the airfield and the sound of a light aircraft is heard in the sky.
The tolling of the church bell can be heard in the background ; is this a sign from the padre
A black car pulls up and the driver leans over and says he is “of the order”. The killer opens the door and gets inside. The driver tells him he will take him to a safe house he knows in the town.

Scene 4

The car journey ensues through back streets, until arriving at the back door of a street cafe.
The killer is told help is through the door and is handed a torn off piece of newspaper on which is
written a phone number. The killer though puzzled, thanks the driver.
All the time he fears he has been seen; are the authorities is tow.  Has the holy man given details of his movements. What is this number for?
He quickly opens the door and heads up the stairs. There he finds a phone and dials the number given
to him by the driver. It rings, but the phone does not connect. Has he been set up? Has this simple phone call alerted the authorities of his whereabouts?

Surely the holy man would not given up on him so easily.

He searches the room for a clues and sees a map of the town fixed to the wall. The map shows the town and to the east what looks like a harbour. Further east, marked off-shore, appears to be rocks with the sign of the cross on one of them. Is this the place of sanctuary?

With heightened fears of the phone call, he decides to head for the harbour. He leaves the room and at first heads out eastwards on foot. He feels eyes are constantly watching him, so decides this journey is too dangerous above ground.  He comes across a manhole cover, and decides to journey through the town’s sewers.

Scene 5 - The harbour

The journey through the sewers is dank with many twists and turns, but he takes comfort that
the only eyes watching his movement here are that of the huge sewer rats.
The sewer ends at a ladder, which he climbs and opens a manhole into what appears to be a large generator room. The generator is silent and the rest of the room is empty.
At the far end is a heavy metal door. The door leads out into a busy harbour. Remembering the map from the room, he spies a single boat tethered loosely to a wooden gantry. He steals the boat and rows out of the habour, heading out towards the rocks Eventully he comes to an inlet between the rocks. He rows into an huge open cave and in half-light sees a waterfall with what appears to be an opening behind it. Through the cascading water, he sees the glowing sign of a cross. Santuary?
The water around him sudden seems to hold the boat with a firm grip, The water takes hold and appears to
usher him towards the waterfall. All around ghostly figures appear as the boat proceeds as on a fix track.
The darkness envelopes him further. The only light now, the faint glow of the cross.
The boat submerges and thrust through the waterfall.

Scene 6 - The abyss;

Through the waterfall is blackness, the boat undulating from side to side. Ghost and spirits rise up all around him. What is this place?
The assassin suddenly realizes the ghostly figures are all those he has been paid to kill.
He scream out in horror and then the face of the padre appears.
"You have a choice, change your ways" or forever be trapped in this abyss"; the vision of the padre
fades and the killer lets out further screams and blacks-out.

Scene 7 - The link to the past?

Whilst the killer lays un-conscious, the boats flips over and the killer finds himself falling
through darkness. Sheer black surrounds him ................

The killer awakes on the floor of an airport terminal. The airport is bustling and no one appears to be taking any notice of him at all. Outside, the sound of fireworks are heard.
He spies a cloak-room and enters. Above the sink is a cracked mirror. His reflection stares back. But what is this? He is has returned to his teens, the time just after he escaped the orphanage. The time before he fell is with the wrong crowd and learned his trade as an assassin.
Was this the help the padre had given; a second chance? A chance to change for the good.

Scene 8
Suddenly an alarm clock is heard..........was this all one mixed up dream?
The man rises from his bed on what was the morning of the day he carried out his first assassination.

Scene 9 (as scene 1)
He proceeds to the train station and with purposeful steps walks from the stations basement level leading to the upper main door to the platforms.
The station announcer is heard and the sound of the train arriving
The man waits on the platform. The train screeches to a halt.
A revolver is seen to be drawn, followed by the sound of a single shot....................................

The scene fades with the smoke flowing from the barrel of the revolver.
The audience unsure who fired the shot.
