This is me getting all ambitious and grabbing an orchestra - well the string section at least.  Various of the Magix arsenal including the string quartet for a bit more sound texture.  I did find that the string ensemle and the Vita string sections don't always play well together as their tuning seems slightly different even to my cloth ears.  Had I a clue about pitch control and mastering that probably would present no problem - erm - I don't.  Had to lob a couple of other instruments in of course.  There is my fave, the double bass and a couple of pipey things.  Thanks for listening if you do.

First thing i noticed and it was the first thing i always insist on good high quality tracks or i just refuse to listen.

this is very high standard quality.

I realy really love the bass in this track.

Great width and depth on the strings. (strings) make a track a little more wide and more depth.

Where is that BASS from.? sounds like a good synth bass.

just a hint for you here.

if you use strings next time round, try and DOUBLE TRACK them.

slight pan on both channels with a touch of ADSR.

it makes the sound thicker and wider and more full.

I do not know how much you know about the mastering world but this is well  made track if you used mastering or not it is a great track.

that's my rant over..lol

i always read the description on a track other wise it is pointless leaving a comment.

I WILL SHARE THIS TRACK.

peace.!

A gorgeous room full of lots of lovely equipment isn’t going to cut the mustard unless it’s in the hands of an experienced creative engineer who understands your music and how to get the results you’re looking for.

I personally have been mastering for over 14 years now.
i have remixed and engineered for alice deejay.

Please note home mastering and studio mastering are not the same. This is a misconception. the process is different, and while the sound of the polished track may seem the same to the NAKED EAR so to speak actually sound different to the trained ear.

THE TRACKS I WILL BE UPLOADING WILL BE ONLY "HOME" MASTERING. (fast process). music maker defaults are ok but not polished.

most people are not concerned about the mastering there more comcerned about the FEEL.

i do not work for free so please do not sent me tracks to be mastered (for free). my time is not cheap.

Hey Alan,
I really appreciate not only the encouragement (a 4 from you is like a 7 from us 'normal people - how's that for a backhanded compliment), but also the great advice on getting more from your strings.  I do have four layers of string instruments for what it's worth.  Two solo violins of different ilk to try and deliver individuality, the Vita string ensemble (which is where the bottom end you say you like comes from) and the string quartet (also from the Vita lists).  I tried having the two violins panned different ways, but never thought to double up on each of the ensembles doing the same, nor tinker with the ADSR.  It's definitely something I'll try next time it go all orchestral - thank you muchly.

I've liked the sound of the Vita strings from my first encounter with them in Music Maker Premium 2013, and am really pleased they've kept them in subsequent editions.  The bass and cello sounds in particular offer great bass drones - or so it sounds to me anyhow.  I did drop the default upright double bass in to give punch in the middle section too.  Love that instrument.

I know as much about mastering as I do about wombat juggling - and no I don't juggle wombats.  I tried the MM mastering suite set to CD mastering and 'classic, but it brought in all sorts of crackle as it beefed it up too much.  I retreated to cd mastering only which reduced it, but had to do another pass dropping the master gain back a touch to take it mostly away.  Apart from that, I read in some computer music magazine somewhere that if you can get the volume balance right for the various tracks throughout a piece, it can reduce the amount of mastering you might need.  Made sense to me so I try as far as possible to do that when I have the patience, and if my ears are hearing right - not always the case.  Nothing medical - just some days a track sounds OK to me and then on relistening it sounds a mass of discords that don't work.  I find it varies a lot from morning to evening.  OK - I'm a weirdo, but you knew that.

Thanks again for taking the time for such a helpful comment.
