Some Are Destined To Search

All original. All lyrics and vocals by me. I finished most of the composition a few months ago, but then decided to add vocals, which took a long time. Although this is a shorter song than some of the others, I tried to give it the same feeling of an "epic" with many sections. Anyway, this is the first song of my progressive rock album. Here is the current track list:

1. Some Are Destined To Search
2. What The Hawk Sees
3. First Intermission
4. ?
5. ?
6. Fictitious Streams
7. Thoughts Amassing

I'm hoping to have the album completely finished some time in April.

lyrics:

Imagine an island
Where nothing is heard
But the song of the birds
And the caress of the sea
Wind blowing through the trees
Like bliss it seems to those trapped there
Without a care, their feet ensnared
But some are destined to search for something
with nothing but a sense of curiosity...

Come with us if you desire
if you wish to be free
we will cross the great sea
this is our destiny

Why should we waste our time?
Just accept that this
pointless endeavor was never an option.
Why should we venture forth?
There's no need to explore,
for there's nothing worthwhile far beyond our home.

Give it a chance and you'll hear
what we've heard in our dreams
in our minds, in our souls
Please let it take control

Why should we waste our time?
Just accept that this
pointless endeavor was never an option.
Why should we venture forth?
There's no need to explore,
for there's nothing worthwhile waiting out there...

With or without you, we'll carry out this plan of ours
No matter how far, we'll be guided by the stars
Breaking from the chains, disregard the pain
as we sail through the icy cold rain
let the time fly, let it pass you by
All you have to do is keep your spirits high

Easier said than done. It's been days since we've seen the sun.
Disturbing new sounds now ring, and voices of evil now sing.

Ignore those voices, we'll sail far beyond that sound
Sail for the dreams never lost, although not yet found
Every passing day, closer to the rays
of the soothing light of places we can stay
So we still embark, motivation sparked
fuel to our fire, banishing the dark

But there's still so many miles to go, and the rain is now turning to snow.
Show us something, show us anything. Give us just one new song to sing...

After what felt like an endless night...there's land in sight!

All along, it's been here
Through the unenlightened years
Countless places out there
Beckoning to those ensnared

This is so much better than we ever would have guessed
Now we are unfettered, truth is no longer repressed

All along, it's been here
Through the unenlightened years
Countless places out there
Beckoning to those ensnared

All that we could ever want was never far away
It was worth the effort, now it all has been repaid
tenfold, so

Let's return to bring them with us
Free them from that island of unending ignorance
Tell them what lies past horizons
Everyone deserves to hear the sound of paradise

I hope the lyrics are not confusing. It is important to know that they are often a dialogue between differing opinions or "characters". The song is intended to be a vague metaphor, so each listener might interpret a different meaning.

Thanks so much for listening! As always, I would love to hear your most honest opinions (yes, I know that the mixing could use much improvement. It's just a very difficult task for me). I found the picture on google. It looked like it could represent either the beginning of the song or the end (departure or arrival).

You have made a tremendous commitment to your musical vision, and I respect that. It takes a bit of commitment on the part of the listener as well. This is not the sort of music that one can judge quickly.

                                                           5 Stars...in case you're wondering.

As for mixing ; We're all still learning. Speaking from personal experience,Loopmasters.com has provided Guitorb with valuable insights in this regard.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
