Written by Austrian Roman Catholic Priest Joseph Mohr, melody was provided by Austrian composer Franz Gruber,& performed on Christmas Eve in 1818,published in 1833. In German its "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" which in English its called "Silent Night, Holy Night"
