Same World

All original. All lyrics and vocals by me. I also played a short mandolin part.

At long last, I have returned to my most personal form of musical expression: symphonic progressive rock. I started this composition many, many months ago, and I added to it piece by piece. In many ways, it reminds me of my old song "Some Are Destined to Search" because there are many sections, but overall, it is not extensively long. I think of this as a sort of continuation of that story, as if this takes place many years later. Lyrically, this song focuses on the idea of seeing the positivity in the world even when it appears to be changing so quickly. It is important to remember the many ways our world stays the same. I should also mention that the lyrics are not always intended to have a specific meaning. Sometimes they just add to the mysterious or mystical atmosphere of the music (I suppose I got this idea from the band "Yes"). Anyway, here are the lyrics:

Time, these timeless moments repeating, unchanging
Soft, the whisper of eternal cycles slowly turning
round, don't let their cruelty persuade you, corrupt you
Fight, resisting thoughts that all we knew is gone forever
Even today so many things remain the same
Forgotten frontiers of past years we can still tame
Tell me, do you ever feel that wonder any more?
Is there nothing in the distance that you're waiting for?

Lost days gazing through the haze
Lost years peering throught the fear
New layers cover the past
Flow fast from sources vast

Why do we forget how much we're given?
Why are we so seldom driven
to pursue what just might be
another day that never leaves our memory?

We should be like children, so enchanted
By the countless wishes granted
We should feel the playful air and
make our own adventures happen anywhere

The same world has always been here for us
The same winds, they'll quietly implore us
To ride the waves, their favor winning
Every single new beginning
The same higher power will adore us

...

Idem aura autem caelum
ambitiones copia
Idem terra autem fretus
gaudium intra animas

Please excuse my poor attempt at Latin. I am sure the grammer is wrong, and the pronunciation is probably even worse. For some reason, I just wanted to try a Latin choir part at the end.

About the picture, I found it on google. It seemed to fit with the song's themes, such as youth and the spirit of exploration (represented by the dove). Also, the scenery looks as if it could be a new land found by the voyagers in "Some Are Destined to Search".

Well, I hope you like the song. Thanks so much for listening and sharing (honest) opinions.

God bless!

I just going to say one thing: Ooooooooo!!!!!!

I´m very glad you´ve returned to the  Symphonic progressive rock because I love that style. And I also think that you get express your musical feelings superbly with it. If we are going to apologize for our uses of language, I must be the first one for my poor english. I think your Latin is quite well pronounced, and it sounds so low that it is almost imperceptible.

I am one hundred percent agree with Thomas, the reverb in your voice, the lyrics poetically unfinished. In the manner of Neil Young, if I may. Everything is a hit.

For reasons I have commented in some other post, I just sorry to hear the poor Vita´s sound  on this song.

Until I started using my current drum configuration I suffered the Vita sound  for a long time. One of the trick I used to humanize and give more realism to the sound is to record a track using a real drum snare.

I play the vita track along a little speakers and I put those speakers on the real snare, the sound vibrates the bordon and I record it, then I mix the both tracks and the sound improves a lot. (Sorry about the english. It was difficult to explain)

Otherwise is a ten track my friend.

Please More like this.

Nice wekeend!

David.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

YEAH! I like it. I wouldn't want to know anyone who didn't like it. Your listening selections have served you well. I draw a lot of inluence from Yes also(just wish I could hit those high notes like Jon Anderson). There is a lot to be hopeful about. When I think of the toil that our forefathers endured just to keep a roof over their head it makes me feel very lucky. So when I complain about a situation or point out an injustice it's only because I know it will get better. I have a lot of faith in the younger generation. Hell,I have a lot of faith in MY generation.

-All the Best,Teddy
