Title: Ping Bong
Artists: Procyon

Well, here's something different.  I originally did this 'Just for Fun', which was its original working title.  I don't know if the new title is any better, but it seemed appropriate.  My taste in music is rather eclectic, so this piece does not fit any particular style, but there's a lot of synth so this category is as good as any.

Yes, it is rather simple and repetitive....it is supposed to be.  It does evolve, but the changes are subtle.  It was meant to be an exercise in the interplay of rhythm and sound.  But then, isn't all music?  Although it was made a few years ago, I've tried to come up with ways to add to or improve it, but nothing seemed to fit so I left it alone.

It is an entirely original MIDI composition with the exception of the drum track, which is from the soundpool.

I know nothing about music. Only listened .. Using technology also makes possible for me to be able to make music.

I am also into photography amateur.

I'm not here for stars score but coment with advice for improvement of my music.

at my coment on music of others, I remain honest. this must be mutual .

I give my voice just as public and not as someone who knows something from music.

I'm open to all criticism. I want to learn something

Hey.

Gefällt mir vom minimalistischem Einsatz

der Instrumente gut...

aber es müsste noch ein richtiger Harmoniewechsel mit rein.

Cheers John.

Hi Procyon,

Yes, I listened to the entire piece start to finish and you're right...it was repetitive but so is the ticking of a clock. At 1:45 when you let go of the bass notes, it was a nice switch. I'm with Griff, I personally am not a huge fan of this particular genre but you did a nice job with this. I will probably have those bass note intervals playing in my head all day,  Thanks a lot. I did a tune called "Clockwork" that was repetitive for the same reason you did.  What's more repetitive than a clock (or a metronome)?

I'm glad you put this out here

Hi Procyon,

Loved it.

Repetitiveness is the hallmark of a lot of music genres, Hip Hop, Rap, Trance to name a few. I found this to be very well done. I personally love sonic landscapes that take their time to develop through subtle changes and embellishments. You have accomplished this exceptionally well.

Super track!

Loved the cover, fits very well with the music.   Man, if you could get it to revolve !

Cheers,

stuallan

Thank you for all of the kind words.  It is more than I expected.  I knew it was not going to be a popular style for eveyone.  Plus, it was simply an experiment that took on a life of its own.  I also knew that three minutes was about as much as anyone could stand of this sort of thing.

Yes, I knew the ping-ponging was a bit much, but it doesn't really bother me.  The title is a play on "ping-pong".  Apparently, it is the default mode for a number of Vita/Revolta instruments.  I did turn the effect down on one instrument just to keep it from being totally insane.  Perhaps I'll have the time someday to rework it and take out most of the ping-pong effects.

I knew it would have an '80's flavor to it thanks to the bass synth, which is a good emulation of the vintage Oberheim Matrix series of synthesizers.  The very nice bell sounds came from a VST emulation of the vintage Ensoniq SQ-80.

great music!i realy like it!very nice begining!

Procyon wrote on 4/25/2014, 10:38 PM

OK...here it is again with most of the ping-ponging removed and mixed in the standard way.  Some of the ping-ponging was kept for effect in a couple of select spots and instruments with some attenuation.  Since most of the instrumentation is now static, the mix, and the EQ on the drums, had to be tweaked a bit for it to translate properly by typical standards.  I hope some find it more enjoyable now.

nice rhythm. A little off beat but it should be an easy fix. keep at it. If you could check my raps out and let me know what you like and don't. -Surreal

I like the sounds and rhythm... the tracks "simplicity"...

Prefer your "ping-ponged" version... much more interesting...

...even though they (the two versions of your track) are way too short.

Really like what you are saying here. Its so cool making own music, and i will tell you this some of the better elcric stuf ive heard in long time. I struggle like h... on the productive side, editing and more.. :) Impation.. I just like to make music. Have been doing it since i learned some riffs on the guitar and started imidiatly making own lyrics and sang.. Have used houers in front of the screen trying to figure the FL Studio, and always a demo, since FL demo 6.  I liked your sound. Different from much lof the other stuf here. Midi yes... Agree with Smartsmurf regarding simplicity, something i struggle with  Just wanted to say how much i "felt" with this tune and thats Something!

Really.. Thx

What happens when life breaks down?

When there is systemic contradiction?
My name symbolized all that was corrupt to society.
His name symbolized all that was pure.

And I was being hailed in the embrace of the man who was pure.

And these inviolable sanctities were preserved in those ten words.

And it is the de-sacralization of all of these that has put us in the mess that we find ourselves.

Isn't it true, alas it is much worse.

A person may end up believing in anything.

You know, if that human acceptance does so much for you and me.

Think of what it is when God himself puts his arms around you and says

"Welcome home".

What love is this?

It is God's love.

And no other love can be defined until that love has properly been understood.

If you can’t make the trip to my studio yourself, don’t worry I now have my brand new Online Mastering Service. Many of my customers are happy to leave me to it, and my wide-ranging experience ensures that you can trust me to make sound judgements on your behalf – no pun intended!

The services on offer include both attended and unattended (online) mastering, vinyl cutting, re-mastering, editing and restoration. For further details please message me here.

A gorgeous room full of lots of lovely equipment isn’t going to cut the mustard unless it’s in the hands of an experienced creative engineer who understands your music and how to get the results you’re looking for.

I personally have been mastering for over 14 years now.
i have remixed and engineered for alice deejay.

Please note home mastering and studio mastering are not the same. This is a misconception. the process is different, and while the sound of the polished track may seem the same to the NAKED EAR so to speak actually sound different to the trained ear.

THE TRACKS I WILL BE UPLOADING WILL BE ONLY "HOME" MASTERING. (fast process). music maker defaults are ok but not polished.

most people are not concerned about the mastering there more comcerned about the FEEL.

i do not work for free so please do not sent me tracks to be mastered (for free). my time is not cheap.

there are some rules that are just plain idiotic. What are some examples of this behavior, why do people do it? Is it because (This is my assumption) they are afraid of the unknown? They are afraid of taking risk? Or is something that happens during the "nurturing" phase of life with overprotective parents. Maybe it's even a genetic thing.

IF I DO NOT LIKE THE MUSIC I WILL "NOT"  WORK WITH IT.

I ONLY EVER WORK WITH MUSIC I PERSONALLY ENJOY.
THIS WAY MY PROFESSIONAL APPROACH CAN BE MET TO VERY HIGH STANDARDS.
