"Lily Was Here" is a Jazz Piece that was performed and made famous by the amazing saxophonist Candy Dulfer.  I remember immediately falling in love with this song when I first heard it and I must have played that song a thousand times.  I finally decided to try my hand at covering it...with piano instead of saxophone of course and this is the end result.

I present the cover of "Lily Was Here."  Enjoy!!!

Hi Brenda:

I remember this quite well.  Brings back some fine memories...  Smooth Jazz at its finest!  What some people may not know is that Candy is one heck of a saxophonist.  Who knew that the Dutch could produce such an amazing Jazz artist (let alone, such a sensational female saxophonist)?  In the world of music -- especially Jazz music, "female" sax players are relatively rare (when compared to their male counterparts).  Why this is so, is really not entirely understood.  However, if one conducts a search around the Internet, you will see (thankfully) that the music (all genres) landscape is changing in a big way.  If you're a musician or just a lover of music, you'll know that this is a very good thing.  (Think Traci Wynn - tenor saxophonist: and these other "sax goddesses):

Brenda?  As far as I'm concerned, I'm preaching to the choir when it comes to your music selections and presentations.  No real surprise.  Simply a wonderful cover version of a really hip tune.

Hi Brenda

I hate to admit that I am not familiar with this tune but I really like your rendition.  It's fun to do a cover and do your own "thang" with it.  I'll locate the original on YouTube but I'll bet you dollars to donuts that you version is right up there with the original!

Beautiful cover

Trish

Hi Brenda,

I too remember this very well and had to run out a buy on "cassette" at the time. I loved that version and I love your version as well. The keys give it a slightly softer vibe which I enjoyed very much. You captured all the nuances of the original and added a few riffs that couldn't be done on the sax, very tasty indeed.

Well played and arranged.

Great job!

Regards,

Stu

Yes, this tune is well-know all over the world. Your version is somehow more active as the original, very, very interesting. I would say, you`ve done a good job, sounds fantastic.

Hoi Brenda

Very gentle cover of this beautiful classic.

A very nice work, but when I miss something out of the prevalent saxophone solo.
For me, as a former saxophone player this is a "must have" for this song.

a very nice cover.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
