Written for the father I never really knew; then found him two weeks before he died of lung cancer. I was able to see him for a total of about five hours. We shared pictures of my family that he hadn't ever met...his grandchildren, my wife, etc. He said he left because he was a heroin addict and didn't want us to grow up in that environment. He was ashamed; but I understood his reason, and thanked him. He was right. My mother raised us and later remarried and we had a good childhood. I remember fondly seeing my father play guitar and he sang "Froggie Went A-Courtin" to me I was about 5; and I thought that someday I would Play guitar too. I panned two guitar tracks; one left side and the other right, to represent him playing followed by my answering his arpeggio as if he was teaching me...also on the intro leads I used a nylon string, then steel for this same reason. I remastered my vocals and guitar; thanks for the advice on vocal effects and microphone placement. Compression and filtering helped pull the vocal out nicely.
Learning about the background of the track, I feel sorry about the painful experience that you must have gone through. Drugs are a big meanace and we need to fight this evil together.
The track is extremely well done reflecting your emotions beautifully. Excellent.
