Today is the 1 year anniversary of when I uploaded my song "Control Freak", so I finally decided to finish this new version I've been working on for a while. It's the softer and slower ballad version.

Thanks for listening and sharing honest opinions.

Oh, the picture is from Arthur again because it was partially the inspiration for the original song.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

Hi Travis

I think you're great.  Honestly.  I'm going to listen to your previous version after this one and I can't wait to hear it.

You're a very talented young man and I imagine a good person too (because those 2 things go hand-in-hand).  As a former music teacher, it's kids (OK, you're not a kid ) like you who show musical talent and dedication to your craft that made my job worthwhile.  Honestly.  Unfortunately it was pretty rare but it's sure good to see you grow into a really fine musician.  You've got a damn good boice too, Travis!

Come autore Pino continua a scrivere canzoni incontrando nuovi personaggi in particolare: uno a livello internazionale, Carlo Alberto Rossi,
E....la musica va..................grazie a tutti Pino

Hi Travis,

I just compared the two versions of ypour song, and to say it first: the song itself is, I mean the very idea and composition is fabulous. And anyway, I don't think that anyone here can compete with you as composer as well as musician.

I personally think that the sound in this version is really better than in the first one. You have really improved in this regard! I especially way the instruments are balanced and placed in the imaginary sound-room. I also like the clearness of the details like the bass guitar and the drums (especially the snare drum is fine, whereas some of the crashes sometimes don't  fade out long enough - by the way: I noticed the latter fact in some of your songs, so I always thought this was intended). This slower is overall much more ripe, cooler and more 'sovereign' so to say. Although it is a bit paradoxical when you sing "Don't inerfere my because I'm in a roll!" and then the song indeed is rather calm and not really 'rolling'. (But that is not a critique and not a very important point at all.).

All in all this version sounds  - probably because of the lowered tempo - not as 'flat' as the first one. And is has the usual shiny and glassy aura of all your songs. Maybe this is even your most complete and professional composition so far, with regard to lyrics, sound, choice of instruments etc. As far as I can say, all that has to be improved to make it still better is compression of the total mix, just to make it a little bit more powerful (that would also be true for the first version which also has the potential to be a hit-song). But that is easier to say than to do, I know I know! (I have the same problems, Travis, and I don't have the skills or the time to become my own sound-engeneer.) But remarks about the mix and the master cannot change my very good impression of your enormous talent as composer and arranger and and and - your talent is evident and it becomes clearer and clearer with every step you take (I'm glad that Sandro, Franco and Trish have noticed that, too).

I'll be writing you more via Email the next days. For now I stop by saying: Congratulations to the one year anniversary of "Control freak" - and to your successful new approach.

Yours,

Thomas
