You Tube Audio recording problem with HDMI Interface

Hi,

Purchased ME ProMX V18 installed on PC windows 7.

Purpose of purchase was to record video off my DV camera to categorise using IEEE firwire. This arrangement works using the ME programme. But also wish to record You tube music lessons directly from the screen as they play.

I don't have a sound card in my PC only an HDMI interface card as all AV goes through the HDMI into a large TV screen set  which plays the recorded audio through the TV speakers.

My problem is that when I record the You tube material, I hear the audio as it records but when playing back with ME there is no audio only videa.

I read in the recording set up screen for audio to "click on recording level and select whatever I hear" but for th elife of me I cannot find this recording level to click on. After checking the manual I have come to the conclusion that may only apply if the software senses a sound card which off course it doesn't.

Can someone help please with how to set the programme to record both video & audio from You tube with my configuration?.

Thanks & Regards,

Lindsey

Hi Lindsay,

I think you are on the right track.  when you go to do a screen capture, here is what you should see.

You can record the video because the capture software can clearly recognize it because you have a video card.  With no sound card, the capture software cannot detect  audio therefore no audio on your recording.

Sound cards are pretty cheap so it may be worthwhile to purchase one.  You could also try just downloading the YouTube video using something like "Any Video Converter" which is free,  some YT links allow download and some do not.
