"You already own all content from this serial number" - ok, and??

nothingbuterrors wrote on 1/15/2020, 1:35 AM

I'm trying to move my Music Maker 2020 installation from my old PC to my new one. I've uninstalled it on the old PC already. When I enter my serial number into the program on my new PC, it tells me "You already own all content from this serial number, you can download this in the Store." I go into the store, and I look at the corresponding entry (Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition). There's no "download", just "activate edition" and "purchase". I am logged into the store. I go to activate edition, and it pulls up the same dialog box I already tried to put my serial number into. I put my serial number in again, I get the same result. I already own all content from this serial number, etc. etc. This leads to an endless loop. If I click purchase, it just gives me payment options to buy another copy of the program. I go to my downloads section, and there's nothing about Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition in there, just all my purchased content from when I had it activated on my old PC. What do I do? How do I activate my program on this computer?

Hi,

Semantics: there is no such program as "Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition" only Music Maker and it's free. What you get when you purchase an "edition" you get Features, Presets, Instruments and Soundpools, some of which are added to the download list, and others for which you receive credits to choose which ones you want.

Thus, you will not see "Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition" in the downloads list, only the various elements.

When you activate an edition, as you did on the new computer, the Downloads list gets populated, and any outstanding credits are shown at the bottom of the various pages of the Store. Since you are on a new computer, you have nothing installed except the program, so you have to click on the Download button (make sure that you are logged in to the Store), and download and install everything. This can take quite a while. For things like Soundpools, they download and install. But, for other things, like Instruments, there is a 2-step process. They download but you have to select Install (in the Downloads Manager list) for each and go through the installation process.

Hi. By 2020 Premium Edition I mean in all the editions that are listed in this segment of the store:

the one I have is this one, titled Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition:

That is why I phrased it that way. Apologies for any confusion. So, are you saying that I cannot activate the program on this computer? Or by signing in and downloading all my features, does this mean that I am no longer operating the demo version and it is for all intents and purposes "activated"?

Apologies for the small size of the images, this seems to be the forum's doing.

Update: When I go into my service center, MAGIX Music Maker Premium Edition 2019 (the version I originally bought it as, also tried installing that version and using my serial number there but it didn't work, before anyone asks) is now listed as not activated on any computers. It's a simple question. How do I activate it on this computer?

If I try to use the "create activation code" method available to me in the service center, entering my serial number and my computer ID, I am told that "No activation could be created, please try again later."

What do I do?

In MusicMaker, make sure that you are on the latest update. Check under Help, Update online if there is an update. Under Help, About, the latest revision is 28.0.2.47.

Above the Media Pool, you should see your email address if you are logged in to the Store. Do you see it? Or does it say "Log in?"

Under Help, Activated Content, do you see your edition, including previous editions as Activated?

If not, then under Help, Show start dialog, click on MAGIX account button. What do you see? If no serial number was on the Activated Content screen, then input your activation code that starts with P3.

At the upper right of the Media Pool, what do you see under Downloads when you click on it?

Hi

. . . MAGIX Music Maker Premium Edition 2019 . . . tried installing that version and using my serial number there but it didn't work. . . is now listed as not activated on any computers. . . . .. How do I activate it on this computer? . . . .

That is not possible, the 2019 serial number has been transferred to the 2020 version, there are no separate year versions now, 2020 replaced the 2019 installation.

Under Help, About you should see your 2019 serial number is being used for the 2020 version.

To clarify @browj2 statement the Downloads list gets populated once activated you will see a new tab to the right of the Store tab labelled Downloads it this tab where you download the extra content.

and in the Store tab all the icons of the extra features to download should have a purple gradient background, none purchased features should be white background icons

I had already installed the latest update, but to be sure I checked again, and there are no updates available. 28.0.2.47 is my version.

Above the Media Pool, you should see your email address if you are logged in to the Store. Do you see it? Or does it say "Log in?"

It does display my email address.

Under Help, Activated Content, do you see your edition, including previous editions as Activated?

If not, then under Help, Show start dialog, click on MAGIX account button. What do you see? If no serial number was on the Activated Content screen, then input your activation code that starts with P3.

I see my Premium Edition 2019 activated, and the three other editions I have purchased all activated. Normally I would take that as assurance that my content is activated, and if you advise me to do so in this case I will.

At the upper right of the Media Pool, what do you see under Downloads when you click on it?

I have downloaded all, and thus my downloads tab is no longer present.

That is not possible, the 2019 serial number has been transferred to the 2020 version, there are no separate year versions now, 2020 replaced the 2019 installation.

I am aware of that much, I simply mean to say that I tried it just in case to cover all my bases. I'm sure you understand the need.

Under Help, About you should see your 2019 serial number is being used for the 2020 version.

I see no serial number in the About section, but I have a feeling that's not an issue at this point.

To clarify @browj2 statement the Downloads list gets populated once activated you will see a new tab to the right of the Store tab labelled Downloads it this tab where you download the extra content.

I am aware, and I have already downloaded all.

and in the Store tab all the icons of the extra features to download should have a purple gradient background, none purchased features should be white background icons

This is the case.

Thank you both for your help so far.

Ok. So, what is the problem? You should have everything and everything should work.

If you have unused credits showing at the bottom of some of the screens and you have purchased everything possible to purchased with credits, then there is nothing that you can do with them but wait, like me.

I am worried that I am still using the demo version of the software, due to not being able to activate it, and that after the demo period it will expire like demos do.

browj2 wrote on 1/15/2020, 10:13 PM

@nothingbuterrors

There is no "demo" program. Nothing expires. You will always have free access to new versions of the main program - its FREE.

Please reread my first post. Review the Version Comparison table. Read everything that is on the Magix.com site about Music Maker.
