I have just upgraded from Win XP to Win 7 64bit. The user files of my music from MM16 will not transfer for use in the new platform. Is there a way to import the file into the new 64bit format?
The files that I am have a hard time recovering are my personal songs that I have created. The "new" install of MM16 is looking for .mmm format files but the "older" install did not save in that format. I can locate the files I moved into the proper folder only if I open the "all file" selection but Magix does not recognize those as valid files. I have to assume that when I reinstalled the program in a 64bit system it changes the file format used. I am hoping Magix has a way to import these older files into my new install or I have to use my other computer to edit them.
OK, So the upgrade from Win XP to Win 7 changes the folder structure, therefore the program cannot locate the files because the content files since they have been moved because of how Windows 7 structures the system.
I am also assuming this upgrade is a new computer.
If so, my suggestion would be to go to the old system then load one of the projects and do the following:
Burn the arrangement to DVD. This should allow you to transfer the entire project to disc then load from that disc to the new computer. (Under File, Backup disc, Burn arrangement to CD/DVD)
I assume from there if this project opens successfully that you can then copy the contents of the disc to a folder on the new system.
I actually have a folder on my desktop called Projects, and in that folder I have a new folder for each project I have created. This way, regardless of the system/computer I use, the structure will always be identical since Microsoft has not changed the location of the Desktop.
