Working with the Plugin Manager

NYC-Songwriter wrote on 6/4/2020, 9:49 AM

Hey guys, I purchased a new sound kit (if that's the right name for it) through BigFishAudio.com. The sound kit that I purchased is called "RIG" -> it must be accessed through something called a KONTAKT 6 player -> Which must be accessed though something else called a "Native Access". (Why you people make this stuff so incredibly complicated is beyond me!!) Nevertheless, I am attempting to add both the 32 bit an 64 bit VSTPlugins folders for the Native Access to my ACID program and I just can't figure out how to press "go" or do whatever I need to do to get them to be added to the list of plugins for the ACID Plugin Manager. I can easily use the Plugin Manager's browser to locate the right VST folders, but then what????? Nothing is added to the program manager's "official list of plugins", no list of instruments appear..... Nothing! Someone please help me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

"KONTAKT" and "Native Access" are both software products from Native Instruments, nothing directly to do with MAGIX!

You will first need to install "Native Access" as a completely independent app, downloadable from Native Instruments (otherwise known as NI). To do this you will need to create an account with NI. Once installed, Native Access will show you various pieces of NI software that can be installed on your computer. To use RIG you apparently need to install the KONTAKT 6 Player. Once installed this will exist on your computer as free-standing app but will also create a .dll that, once added to the folder where Acid stores its links to VST Instruments, should be available to you in Acid. Once opened in Acid, I suspect you will need to tell it exactly where the RIG library of sounds are stored on your computer in order that they may be accessed and used.

Just to clarify: in and of itself Native Access does NOT require any .dlls to be linked to Acid; KONTAKT 6 Player does.

One other caveat: be aware that KONTAKT 6 Player is free, the full KONTAKT 6 is not.

As to why this is so complicated, that is something you will need to ask Native Instruments about!

I have always been very clear that the Native Instruments software and ACID software are separate. i am in the middle of sending communications to them to figure out if their program will even work on my computer. The RIG sound library which I just purchased for $100 simply will not work without the free Kontakt 6 Player, and the Kontakt 6 Player will not activate the RIG sound library without their stupid NI Service Center program. The most current NI Service Center program which they have available for download is for Windows 7 & 8. This old crap doesn't seem to want to work on Windows 10 and each time I attempt to get it up and running, it crashes. It's been a long, frustrating process, just to get some sounds onto my ACID sound platform. After hours of waiting for their files to download, installing and dancing around their complicated installation process, I seem to have hit a brick wall and might have to simply ask for my money back and look elsewhere. :( Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the updated information.

I run Win 10, KONTAKT Player, and Native Access successfully. The Native Service Center is now "old" and no longer used, I believe, except for Win 7 & 8, as you say. It has been replaced by "Native Access".

I don't have Acid, so can't comment on whether you can use the KONTAKT player in the app, but I can say it works on my system, with various host DAW apps. Obviously I can't comment on the use of the RIG instruments that you've bought because I don't have them!

Someone from the Native-Instruments team contacted me and let me know that despite the installment instructions specifically instructing me to use the NI Service Center to activate sound libraries, I needed to ignore that and simply us the Native Access program. What no one pointed out (and I accidentally figured out on my own), is that I needed to click the "Add Serial Number" option and enter the serial number that came with my receipt and proof of purchase EMAIL. Once I put that in, the Kontakt 6 Player suddenly stopped indicating my purchased RIG sound library as "Demo Only" and activated the library.

Now I have access to the library through the Kontakt 6 Player. Next, I need to figure out how to access the library through ACID.
