More feed back when files are saving and uploading to Youtube.

Support more than one youtube account.

Clicking on an object stops the player and moves the player cursor to that point

Loop round selection.

Save and load custome equaliser settings.

Fix bud object flies in and out, selected area.

Promote and demote tracks by dragging on a track.

Allow user to set volumn of track by entering a db number.

Close project.

Allow copying objects from one project to another.

Keyframe points needs a tutorial, having used Sony Vagas which only shows keyframe points for the current effect I find this very confusing in Movie maker.

Hi Colin,

You need to understand that this is a user forum so I doubt very much that anyone from Magix product development ever looks here for ideas.  By the way, you have some very good product suggestions.  I also doubt that anyone from magix.info reads suggestions about how to improve the forum unless perhaps you click on "feedback" on the very top of the page.  Even then (and I have done this many times) you will never know if anyone has read your comment or any action has been taken or is planned.

Your comment about tutorial has been a source of frustration for me.  I have submitted tutorials, have been told that it is going through the "editorial process" and after over 2 months, the tutorial is not posted in the tutorial section, nor have I received any feedback as to why it is not there.

What I have been trying to do to help users out is to create mini tutorials based on specific questions or on topics that people are interested in.  I can't realistically do a tutorial on "how to use keyframes" because eventually it would fall to the bottom of the post list, and most people do not search pervious posts to find answers to their questions, and if I can't get it uploaded to the magix.info site under "tutorial" it is basically a lot of effort to answer 1 question that will never likely be seen again.

Now, if you have a specific question about keyframes such as "how could I use keyframes to accomplish this...."  if "this" is something specific, that tutorial would take me less than 1 hour to complete and would be answering a specific question.

I hope that this helps clarify how things work with the forum.  There are many very smart and experienced people here who want to help.  We just can't do much more than answer specific detailed questions.

Good Luck

Hi Colin

Taking your points one by one and playing the devils advocate a little    -

1    Upload feedback - nice idea a progress bar would be useful

2   ??  AFAIK you can only have one account on Youtube per login - as MEP asks for your login to Youtube you can upload to multiple accounts - only drawback is movie has to be re-made each time - what is the thinking behind this other than to stop remaking the movie?

3   There is already a halfway house to this - the setting Move playback marker when clicking object.  Only drawback is this works correctly once playback has been stopped. Personally I would not expect any development on this as it is a very small change from what is already there.

4   Loop round selection. - Where and what for?

5   Fix bud(g) object flies in .....   Can you explain more.

6   Promote and demote ....  - good idea - however it would need the user to be very methodical in laying out the objects/track  - MEP is great in allowing any type of object on any track and not limiting like a certain other NLE where you can only put video on the video track(s), audio on the audio track(s) etc.

7  ..... set volume of track by entering dB number ...  Assuming you mean the entire track this can already be done in the Mixer - double click the db value bottom left of each set of track controls.

8  Close project    This is only necessary for the next point

9  Allow copying objects .....  Good idea -   I think this would involve some serious reprogramming of the database engine as you need to load two projects independant of each other.  There is a way of doing this however it is a little complicated.

10 Keyframe tutorials - there are already many tutorials on using keyframes out there on the Internet.  The confusion part - have you opened up the keyframe 'tracks' so you can see the individual effects and keyframes?

IMHO isolating the keyframes, so that only the ones you want appear for a particular effect, would certainly make syncing multiple effects more difficult eg in my current project I have a video clip that changes colour, dilation and speed all synchronised together.

Hopefully I have presented a balanced view on this.

I seem to remember there was a wishlist forum for MEP here but I cannot find - memory playing tricks!!!!

John

@john,

You know that this is a very specific and technical answer where you are talking point by point, and as a Moderator, this is part of your role.  Your answer does not get to the real problem which is this forum has some issues that need too be addressed.  I have sent you email about this, not in the forum.

HI Guys,

Thanks for all your responses.

John

Youtube - I've seen people talking about this on the forums, in prevoius versions you could change the login details but I can't find this in version 18 or am I missing something, I now save them as mp4 files and upload them manually.

Loop round selection I used this all the time in Sony Vegas to line up things, especially when lining up music and video objects.

Fly in and out effect, this works pefectly when in the program but when you burn a DVD, create a file or upload it to youtube you get this effect you can see a duplicate black screen

Set volumn - I've looked everywhere for this, if I right button on a track I get lots of options one of which is Set volumn, but this only lets you select a number of + and - db levels I want one lower than -20dB

I know close project can be done by quittting or close the program, just seems that every other program I use lets you close a file/project.

Re keyframes I'm very used to using them in Sony Vegas but they dont seem to work in the same way especially when use on multi effects like the bulleted list used in the above video.

gandjcarr - I look for tutorials on Youtube which is where I posted this one

gandjcarr wrote on 9/3/2012, 2:53 PM

@john, keyframe tutorial, there are 3, all of them specific to a specific use of key frames, need I go on?

johnebaker wrote on 9/3/2012, 4:21 PM

Hi Colin

Youtube - I get this dialog every time I upload test videos

Has yours disappeared?

My comment about re-making the video - while testing for the above I got the mesage that the video had already been uploaded already and did I want to upload again. So I learned somthing there .

Loop round - now I understand - good idea I too often want to see a section repeatedly.

Fly in/out problem - initially I could not replicate this, however I found that if I applied the effect to the clip once and then repeated by dragging the effect to the clip I got the same duplicate black screen as you have in the example you uploaded.

Try stepping through the section where it occurs and look at the tracks below (you may have to go right to the bottom track) to see if the effects mask is on any of the tracks or literally under the video on the same track.

Set volume - agreed with this option you only have fixed levels.- the closest to what you want is the Effects tab, Audio Effects where you can set the volume as a percentage - search Google for a percent to db chart.

Close project - agree many programs do offer this, though I have seen others which  have no close option but behave like MEP.

Keyframes - agree that If you are used to one systems way of working with keyframes then another system can be confusing.  However I would point out the  Apple iPhone/Samsung battle on look alikes and things we naturally take for granted - like the bounce back.

Was the bulleted list a series of Titles based on the Movement, Left template?

@George

I agree in the Tutorial section of this forum there are three, however there are many more on the web (Youtube and others) relating to MEP.  In particular I find those by Bryce L Tomlinson to be  informative.

As you say a tutorial can only show you how to do a specific task eg move an object, however I think it is the underlying principles of how keyframes work that is important to grasp these principles and then apply them imaginatively.

If a user gets stuck on how to achieve a particular effect the users of this forum are here to help.

Cheers

John

Thanks John,

I get a completey different screen when I upload to youtube

I got the screen you show the first time I uploaded a to youtube now it goes to the above screen.

There are definitely no video tracks below the flying in and out effect. I copied and pasted these effects I will redo them without using copy and paste and see if that works.

I will try and make a video explaining my issues with keyframes

Screen when uploading to youtube

gandjcarr wrote on 9/4/2012, 4:15 AM

Hi Colin,

Good tutorial on youtube.  I learned a couple of tricks that I did not know.  I have used and own many video editing applications and they all have their own quirks.  When I used the Sony product I had trouble integrating the way it worked into my workflow, so hang in there.  I have been using MEP for almost a year now and occasionally have to go back to one of the others (usually Adobe or Corel) and even though I was once comforatable using both of them, I find their interface to be strange and no longer logical or intuitive.

What I like most about MEP is the stability of the application.  I no longer have frequent (daily) application crashes for no apparent reason.

Colin,

To set track volume, open the mixer on the far right near the bottom you can go as low a -60 db

re: Copying objects,

If you save the objects as takes you should be able to re-use them as many times as you want.

How to change YouTube and other internet settings in MEP

gandjcarr wrote on 9/5/2012, 1:11 PM

Hello Colin,

re:promote and demote a track,

You can easily do this by selecting the objects in the track and dragging then to any track that you want.

Yes I know but this is very messy if you've got a complicated project, believe me I've had to do it.

Colin,

Hi George, how well do you know the operations of the mixer, it seems to let me use the volumn button while the track is playing and puts marker points on the volumn curve, do you know if there is a way to set the level of the whole track? Adjusting it and then deleting all the curve markers seems messy. I will keep playing with this.

I've just reloaded it and it seems if you don't show the volumn curve you can just set the volumn

I rang them today and the only thing that appears to be different is that it supports some hi-end cameras and you can have more multi cams. Seems a bit crazy to be charging 0ver £250 for just that!

Hi George,

Just seen your PM about this. Sorry for slow response. I don't get automatic emails from magix.info informing me of new PMs, and I've not got into the habit of checking the Messages section as often as I should.

But I'm replying here anyway rather than by PM so that others can join in.

Wish List
I don't think there is one. I'm cynical about the value of such a facility, given Magix's prioirities. I've made many, many suggestions about improvements to this site and offhand I can recall only one that has been implemented.

Tutorials
I agree with you that the process seems too complex, too much hassle, and so I don't use it. Great pity as I do strongly believe in the value of tutorials. I've written quite a few over the years, from MEP11 onwards. But all have been within either this site or our old forum. Searches by users really looking seriously for help will find them all. And, BTW, in contrast with the low resolution images here in the magix.info site, mine are usually readable! (That's one of the improvement requests I've made several times over the last year or two.)
