Will Windows 10 raise any problems for Magix MEP users?

Bahny wrote on 6/17/2015, 4:40 AM

Like probably millions of others I have reserved my Windows 10 download for 29 July 2015. (Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit).

Will Windows 10 be compatible with Magix MEP 2015?

I suspect that the answer is probably yes, however it is best to be sure before installation rather than afterwards.

Regards.

Hi, I have also commented on this subject, and am currently awaiting a response from Magix. As I am new to video editing I did my research, and found Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus to be a very capale product, I am using the trial version, and will be holding off purchasing until the matter of how Magix is going to function without the windows media player codec it depends on for some of its functionallity, as media player is being dropped from windows 10, this issue certainly causes me some conscern. I have asked Magix Press if this is being addressed, and if Magix intends to support the 2015 version on windows 10, whether it be via a patch of some other upgrade, as opposed to our product becoming defunct if we were to upgrade or install windows 10.

I hope the answer is forthcoming, and we can all move forward in good faith.

You could also contact Magix support and put this question directly to them.

Hi

I have had an answer from Magix - in summary - QA are currently testing all current generation products and there will be updates to address potential Win 10 problems for at least the current generation products,

When I get further news I will post it in the forum.

Hi to all

AND GOOD NEWS,.                                                                                                                            Maybe the mods would make this a sticky as it will keep coming up regarding windows 10 issues.

Below is the response I recieved from Magix Support, It is clear they are working on the issues, like all other software developers who now have the same challenges regarding the impending rollout of Windows 10.

The Good news is, we won't be dumped, but we can not expect miracles either, I guess it all depends on how much the final Windows 10 differs from what we are currently using, Its not a Magix software related problem, though at least now we know this company are trying to get us through.

This is their un-cut response, I was going to remove the parts pertaining Specifically to Windows 10, but decided they actually better explain the prediciment software developers are in regarding W10.

Hi

There seems to be an issue regarding activation of the Mpeg4 codecs that have already been activated in an earlier version of Windows, according to some German and French users. The workaround appears to be to Right click the programs .EXE or short cut and select "Run as administrator". After doing this once the program susequently runs the Mpeg4 files without asking for activation.

There is a new patch out for VDL / MEP2015 but it does not mention W10 in the release notes so I am not sure if it addresses the above or other W10 issues.

Hi Trying

Not sure why support are refering to the loss of Windows Media Player and hence the loss of the MP3 codec because WMP is still part of W10. Maybe they are getting confused with Windows Media Center which is no more?

installed windows 10 myself ,would not work after ,had some instructions from a magix  member on how to resole this ,also had to get my activation reset by customer support.

All now working faster than before, dont know why but the rendering is so fast compared to windows 7,

Windows media player still works great as well
