Will not use external CD drive

MP3 Maker 2004 Diamond I have been using for over 15 years will not read or write to external CD drive: "Not ready, not available, or protected." Drive is fully usable via the o/s (Windows 10) and is the only CD drive the system currently sees. If there is something I can do in the MP3 Maker software to force it to recognize the available drive, I have been unable to find it.

@Ron-D It's very likely the software is too old and doesn't work with Windows 10 and the drivers for your CD drive.

Thank you for the quick response. But I have been using the software successfully on Windows 10 since I upgraded, with the built-in CD drive. Last week the laptop ate the spindle and I bought the external drive (repair seems unlikely, and expensive in any case). It never even occurred to me to check the drivers (thanks for mentioning that possibility), but both the CD drives use the same software driver. Oh, well....

@Ron-D I would suggest you use alternative softwares like https://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ to copy your CDs and https://cdburnerxp.se/ to burn them.

@Ron-D Here I found a link to the updated Burn Routines from Magix

Win 10 burn routine update https://my.hidrive.com/lnk/jHAqmebc

Maybe this will help your old version of MP3 Maker to work again. But I'm not sure.

My apologies for taking so long to respond. Been very busy lately, and this problem has been put aside. I will get back to it at some point, though. Thanks again!
