Hi

. . . .still .mov does not play . . . .

Did you do a full restart of the computer?

. . . . are you there? . . . .

Please note that this is a user to user forum and not Magix Support - everyone here is a user of Magix software as your self and we are in different time zones and have other commitments as well.

Can post a MediaInfo analysis of the MOV file you are trying to play - post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo.

I have the same issue with Video Pro X version 18.0.1.89 (UDP3) and playback of MOV files does not take place. The same MOV file can be played using Vegas Pro 15 and tested on vegas pro 18 build 373. I am using the same workstation to run the test. Test video is attached.

You are the second person within a week to present a similar problem.

Thank you for the file data as well. That was the main key.

The file is a Pro Res file with a 4444 Format profile that apparently the software cannot cope with the additional Alpha channel. .

Hi

Any updates on VPX developing support for Pro Res, since file coversion is tedious and Vegas Pro supports Pro Res?

I am sorry but you have missed the boat on that one because as from 18.0.1.89 Magix have removed the Pro Res support. It is there in the 18.0.1.85 patch as an "Intermediate" codec with export options for HQ, XQ, Proxy, UHD and 4K but they chose to not call it ProRes even though Media Info shows it as such after export.

My guess is that it has been removed because of licensing problems with Apple. Shame!

Does your clip actually use the Alpha channel as it may be this that is tripping up VPX ? With the .85 patch I can play an exported XQ clip which shows in MI as 4.4.4.4 but the transparency does not show in the VPX timeline.

Can you play a standard 4.2.2 HQ ProRes file in the .89 patch?

Hi if you watch the video I have uploaded on above thread (https://www.magix.info/us/forum/will-not-play-mov-files--1245692/#ca1623317) Vegas Pro does have the support.

I have also tested Vegas Pro 15 Edit and it supports Pro Res 444 and 442 files.

VPX does not. :(

Hi.

Then I would hang on to that version as long as you can because it looks like future versions will not unless Magix decide to pay for licencing again.

@Almin

See this thread and related threads on the Vegas forum. ProRes support in Vegas is limited and ProRes RAW is not yet available. We don't know if the new agreement with Apple extends to other Magix products like VPX.

Please note media file plays fine on same machine using Sony Vegas 15 Pro and Sony Vegas 18 Pro (video shows this).

There are no such programs as "Sony" Vegas 15 Pro and "Sony" Vegas 18 Pro unless you have pirated versions that say Sony. If not, then I'm sure that Vegas (and Magix) would appreciate that you drop the "Sony" part.

@Hotse

To say that VPX and MEP do not play mov files is misleading if not simply false. My mov files play fine on my computers in both MEP and VPX. Always specify what is in the mov file. As you have seen, it's the format that is in the mov container that is causing the problem.
