Why won't Music Maker show mp3 files in the file manager

Wrought wrote on 3/24/2020, 11:12 PM

I just started using Music Maker for the first time today and it's the worst experience I've had so far of any software I've ever used. The File Manager won't display any of the mp3 files that are clearly in the directory if I look at them in Windows File Explorer. If I try to drag and drop the mp3 file to a track in Music Maker, then Music Maker gives me an error window and closes down.

And why do I have to login every single time I open Music Maker?!?!?! Save my login credentials and my sanity, please.

Awful!

I guess your using the free version and if you have bought the Plus or Premium version have failed to add the feature that gives MP3 support from the store.

No, I'm not using a free version. I paid money for this on Humble Bundle.

Why would I need to go into a store to be able to support mp3? It's been a standard format for years.

@Wrought

Hi

. . . . I'm not using a free version. I paid money for this on Humble Bundle . . . .

Did you activate the program with the serial number you received, then download and install the extra content which includes support for MP3 files as well as more features, tracks, soundpools and instruments?

If not then the program is running as the free version.

Which version of Music Maker did you get?

Did you update to the latest patch?

Did you activate using the Activation code that you received?

Did you download and install everything under the Download button - upper right? You have to be logged in to do this.

Yes, I did activate the program with the serial number. When I open the download manager the page is blank for purchases. Ok, so I think I understand the bait and switch now. Magix sold me something that is actually free outside of Humble Bundle, then in order to actually be able to use MM with the standard file format, I have to pay more money to use my "free version"? Wow, I thought these kinds of predatory sales practices died in the 80's.

80's edition

Yes, I guess. I wasn't prompted for a patch.

Yes

I tried. The download manager page is blank. I am logged in.

After proving the definition of insanity over and over for several collective hours now, I decided to look at some other DAW's to see if they also require me to purchase the ability to use mp3. It is amazing to realize that high quality, and even free, DAWs do NOT require me to buy a feature to import mp3 after the initial purchase/download. Within several minutes I had a new DAW installed and my mp3 imported without fumbling around the software menus, logging into a store, or wasting time in online forums.

So, while I can't say that I appreciate the overall experience to participate in Magix "How to alienate customers for life" master class, I do appreciate the finality with which they have been able to help me arrive at this decision.

Goodbye.

Wonderful, you didn't answer any of my questions. If you actually bought something, then you would have been able to tell me what. And then I could have guided you.
