Why is my video losing sync with sound when I cut a section? Movie Edit Pro 17 HD

When I cut a section of video the footage loses sunc with the sound. This is new and has not happened on any previous projects. Could it be my laptop giving up? I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still the same probelm persists. Is it anything to do with the video file? I am editing clips off an SD card and have only previously edited footage from my phone, could this be the problem? I am using Widnows 7 which is compatable with MEP 17 HD.

Thanks

Hi

. . . . I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still the same probelm persists . . . .

This rarely solves problems because when you un-install remnants of the software and settings are left behind and are picked up again when you re-install.

. . . Could it be my laptop giving up? . . .

Unlikely unless it is exhibting problems with other software.

. . . . Is it anything to do with the video file? . . . .

It could be - what format is it and what is the source of the video ie camera, video camera etc?

. . . . I am editing clips off an SD card . . . .

Are you adding the movies to the project directly from the SD card?  If so you can get problems if you open the project and the card is not present or its drive letter changes.

Best practice is for all the files used in a project to be on the computers hard drive before starting editing a project

Are the video and audio still grouped together when you make the section cut?

Do a program reset - File Settings, Reset program settings to default - and try editing a clip in a new project.

And finally - is the program patched to the last version of MEP 17 ie 10.0.11.0 ?  You can find this information under Help, About. . .
