You must submit your website address to Google for them to send one of their bots to go through the website and analyse it for inclusion in the searh engine - this can take several days before it is registered.  See here

Depending on the search terms used, your ranking will be very low, the more real people (see below) visit your site, and link to it the better.

Note - using submission programs which 'guarantee' increased rankings and site visit bots to try to increase your ratings can have the opposite effect.
