Why has my 3D title turned off, now it reads Please use the quick entry box in the title menu to change text of the object

MEP 16 Plus

My 3D title stopped working, I used to be able to change the color of the text as well the size and shadows of the text, now when I double click I get the message of - "PLEASE USE THE QUICK ENTRY BOX IN THE TITLE MENU TO CHANGE THE TEXT OF THE OBJECT"   What has happened  ??
