Why doesn't recording of VST instruments work in MMM2015

Cannot record vst/vita instruments at all. Record does not work.

using windows 10 pro

Magix Music Maker 21.0.4.50 (UDPP3)

I am referring to vst solo instruments virtual software and following the tutorial for it.

Are you using a MIDI keybpoard and following the procedure here to record the instruments / synthesizers?

If not how are you trying to record with VST / Vita instruments.
