Why does the section/zoom effect in movie edit pro 17 zoom in the corner?

Hi,

I've got some footage for a deadline due tomorrow, I'm using the section/zoom effect to crop out a part of the shot that I don't want, but whenever I finalize the file it is always zoomed in on the upper left hand corner. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi, If you just want to crop use the section function not the zoom function.  In the example below, I wanted to crop out the windows and focus on the basketball net.

So I drew and positioned the box using the settings shown of keep proportions and fill screen. Then clicked on "preview" and the result was as follows:

If you actually need the zoom and not just to crop the video let me know and I will tell you how to do that.

Good luck with your project,

George

Hi,

OK, when you play the segment back in the time line does it do the same thing or is it only when you export the file?  If it happens during playback as well as export, I am going to suggest you do the following:

Select the clip, right click on it and then click "Video Effects" followed by "Reset video effects" please note that all other previous effects you have used on that clip will be removed.

Then go back and go through the section process again and let me know what happens.

I am trying to make sure that some how you did not get a zoom effect inserted into the clip without knowing that it happened.  I have had that happen to me before and it took hours to figure it out because I was sure that I had not used that effect.
