Why can't I hear audio from other software while Music Maker 2016 is open?

Music Maker 2016 interferes with the external players I am trying to use to hear what I have exported.  It literally causes Windows Media Player to report an error and not play at all.  If I use MediaPlayerLite, it seems to run, but can't be heard.

Everything works fine with both external programs and the export files if I close MM2016 completely.  But this is very inconvenient.

Hi

IMHO that is by design.

I suspect in order to allow MMM to minimise/avoid latency in the audio, it communicates/controls the sound card directly.
