Why are my imported video files playing back jumpy?

I am new to the product and may be a user error here but could use some advice.  I took some video clips with my handheld RCA camcorder which output .mov files for QuickTime.  The box for Magix Movie Edit ProMX states that QuickTime files are compatible.  When I bring these clips into my project and playback on my computer screen, the videos are jumpy and delayed.  I have tried converting the files to .wmv and .avi and get the same results.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hi

Please read this post then come back with details of your computer specification.

This question has been asked many times before - you can use the search box on the right to search for:   Jerky playback

Also more details of the file format or the camcorder would be helpful.
