First, check to make sure the mic cord is plugged all the way in on both ends; sometimes noise can be introduced if either or both ends are loose. Next, check the input levels on the mic. If the gain is too high, there is a chance for increased noise, especially when using low quality cables (or even if it's a cheap mic from Amazon or something). Next, if your interface has multiple ports, troubleshoot to see if the noise is isolated to that one port, or if you're getting it across all ports.
And yeah, there ways to deal with noise using software, but it's always best to get a clean recording.
