WHITE Colored Letterbox for Facebook Video

Brice-Kennedy wrote on 11/30/2021, 12:19 AM

Hi everyone...

I hope I'm in the right forum as I'm using Magix Movie Studio Platinum 2022. I've learned how to choose a new project that's 1:1 Square Video and drop my 16:9 footage into it generating the black bars necessary but what I'm looking for is the ability to change the black bars to white.

I didn't see an option to directly do this but I was hoping there would be an option to import a mask possibly made up in Photoshop or something and overlay those but I could not find that option anywhere. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I've exhausted Google and came up empty. Oh and sorry in advance if the answer is obvious lol.

Thanks,

@Brice-Kennedy

Hi Brice and welcome to the user to user forums.

Yes you have come to the correct forum. Sorry you are forced to post under other products but in future you could post under Movie Edit Pro as they are almost identical products.

I am not familiar with this type of problem but have produced a jpg for you to try. Place it on a track below your other tracks and use the Chroma Key tool set to black to let the video show through. Stretch the image along the video track to the required length.

Click on the image below to expand right click to open in a new tab or window. Click it again to get to full size and download.

It's as precise as I can make it you may have to jiggle it a bit to fit exactly using the size position tool. It does have white boarders ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘.

Ray.

Hey thanks Ray for the jpg. It worked a treat! I did as you said and bam - white letterboxing! I'll try to bear in mind the Movie Edit Pro forum for next time. Again, thanks so much for making this... it was above and beyond and was exactly what I needed!

@Brice-Kennedy Hi, there's a couple of ways you could do this, right click on the image & change Background Design to white, You could put a white Templates - Test image- White on your 1:1 project top track & put your 16:9 media on the track below or to create a mask -,

This is the orig 16:9 image on a 1:1 project, (change the size of the 16:9 media to whatever you want, i left it full size)

You can change the brightness to full white & export as a PNG or JPG to create a mask that will fit your project

Or change the brightness to fully dark (black), right click on the image & change Background Design to white & export as a PNG or JPG to create a reverse mask, this reverse can be done with Chromakey Alpha tho or the white arrow that appears on the media when chromakey is applied but would give you your white background bars,

When done just click on the butterfly button top right on the Brightness controls to return the image to full colour, & drag in the mask JPG, you can put whatever image/colour behind as you wish

I'll do that sometimes if i want to create a mask on a project,

change the two track's brightness, one to white, the other to black & export as a PNG or JPG to create a mask

Drag in mask, the drag to length & add Chromakey Alpha

It's the same as the orig ๐Ÿ˜‚ but it's how i could create a mask that i can then alter in MEP or photo editing software ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Gid,

I think I've got it sorted out but if I have any problems, I'm sure one of your methods would come in handy. I have to say that I come from a Premiere background primarily and really am pleasantly surprised at what this program can handle. I appreciate your help.
