Where is Text Transparency control?

Kami_1 wrote on 9/23/2016, 1:10 PM

I apparently hit something yesterday, because all the text is transparent.  I read this control exists in both the Help file and the PDF manual.  But I don't see it in the Title window.  (I also don't see the soften control.)  I always have Filled checked.  This is regardless of selected font, even a Magix font.  Please help!  MEP2016)  Kami

Hi Kami

You have turned on the Border control which has set the text to outline mode.

From the settings in your image the text should be a thick black outline and look as shown below

Hi John,

I almost always use the outline mode with text.  Been doing so for years.  The contrast between the text and the outline makes the text readable against "busy" backgrounds.

But I never experienced the transparency before.  In the forst s-cap, you can see the transparency in both the text and the outline.  The result is very little contrast.  The second, which was done earlier, has no transparency, which results in good contrast.

According to the help file and the manual, there's supposed to be a separate Transparency control.  This is what I need but can't find.

Hi Kami

I agree with using the outline (border) in a different colour to make the text stand out better.

AFAICS the transparency control referred to in the manual is for the Drop Shadow effect.

To alter the transparency of the whole text the handle shown below is used.

Hi Kami

The Transparency and Soften control are available after clicking the Drop Shadow button next to (left of) the 3D button and as John has said, they only apply to the Shadow.

Thanks, adjusting with the text "handle" works!
