Where can I download Movie edit Plus 17

I'm not sure if I need to download my copy again or not. I cannot use Movie edit Plus 17 now, though, because I keep getting an error that a divide by zero has occured in MPEG2.DLL. I used the program 3 days ago and it was fine. Today it won't work at all. I haven't installed any new programs. I didn't have or run any windows updates. I haven't changed anything on my PC. But, today, it will not work. I downloaded the patch update and installed it. Still having same trouble.

I do not find a link to download the installation anywhere, however. Is there a place to download? I was thinking of just uninstalling Movie edit plus 17 and then reinstalling it.

If I would have to buy a new copy, that isn't very friendly way of doing business, surely there is a place to download again.

Any help would be great. Thank you.

***26/06/2013 I found the original installation files on my PC. I am running the repair utility in the installation to see if that fixes my problem.

***26/06/2013 No, it repair did not work. Now I shall try to uninstall reinstall assuming I can find my key first.

***26/06/2013 Reinstall did not solve the problem. But, apparently the problem lies in the.dv itself. I have used .dv files from the very same source before and had no problems. So I converted the .dv in a separate program to and .avi and it didn't crash. I do not know what .dv has to do with mpeg2, but apparently it is connected in some way. What confuses me is why did .dv files from the very same source work before, but no longer? There hasn't been any updates.

Hi. When you downloaded the Program, did you Register it online,(with an Account)? If so,you can login to your Account, and you should find your Regstered product(s) there, along with any Activation Keys. Uninstall what you have already and then restart your PC,before downloading and re-installing the software. If no luck.contact Xara/Magix via their Websites.Good luck,Ray

Hi John,

A couple of ideas.  Try opening your file using the latest version of Quicktime if it is Quicktime-DV or try opening it in something like Media Player if it is DV-AVI.  If you can't play the file, you may need to scan your registry for invalid entries and solve that problem first.

You may not have changed anything on your PC but that does not mean that you do not have invalid registry entries.  I am assuming that you are using a windows PC and not a Mac running a windows emulator.

Have you had any luck at all??

Coastman, Thanks for the info. I had not thought of simply clicking on "My Account" because I figured when I logged in on the support forum I was already in my account! Good info! So far, I have found out that I can work with my videos if converted to AVI. I haven't yet tried scanning the registry for errors as suggested by George. That will be next. I would like to return to just dropping the .dv into the time line without first converting. But at the moment, the conversion will handle my immediate problem. Thanks to you both.
