Where are my backup files from auto save going?

Hi there. Running Movie Edit Pro 2014. I created and worked on a vid for about an hour tonight before the program crashed and I lost everything. I facepalmed for not saving but then remembered that the autosave is on by default every 10 mins.

But alas I have no BAK files for it. I've searched the entire computer. Backup files for all the other vids I've done, but not this one. I'm resigned to doing it again, but does anyone have any ideas why this is the case, as it is a situation I'd like to avoid in the future.

All the settings are on default in terms of where the files go.

Cheers.

EDIT: I should have been more clear. I know where the backup files are supposed to be. The directory has a number of backup files from previous projects. My point is that the movie I was working on for over an hour last night created no backup files in that directory.

When I go to "load backup project", there are no files from the specific video I worked on last night.

Hi,

Using Windows explorer search *.mvp in the C: drive. The backup file has name.bakX.mvp

Thanks for the response.

I have already attempted this. No luck. They don't exist.

Hi

If you go "File > Load Backup project" it should open the default folder where the Backup projects are.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that doesn't really answer my question. I know where they should be, and how I'm supposed too be able to reload them, but the files for the project I was working on are not there to be reopened.

Hi,

An obvious point, but are you sure that the option was enabled, and with an appropriate setting?

Have you checked that the autosave is set still set to ten minutes in the program settings? Maybe start a test project and see if it saves after the set period. If it does not then try resetting the program to defaults - "File > Settings > Reset program settings to defaults" and test again.

Hi Terrypin, Scenstealer, sorry for the late responses.

Unfortunately I lost that project. I have no idea what happened as I has auto-save setup correctly and was working on it for a good 30-40mins. But losing it was not a huge issue.

Backup has worked fine since this so I'm hoping this was a one time bug.
