When I use the alpha option to give text color and texture, there is only texture and no color.

I am trying to add texture and color to my text in Magic Pro 14.

I insert the text and then put the picture I want to take the color and text from in the track below it.

I right click on the picture, select "video effects" and then click "alpha."

The texture from the picture then appears on the text, but not the color. The letters are still black and white.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong or need to change a setting?

The other problem I just realized also is that the alpha option not only gives texture to my text, but also to my video itself. Is there a way to give texture to the text without the entire video receiving the texture?

jmorrell,

Assuming you meant '...take the color and texture from (the picture)...', I think all you need to do is apply the alpha effect to your title, not the picture below it.

Alpha effect makes that track control whether you see the track above (lower number / behind) or the track below. so you need:

1. Background clip or image (1 & 2 allowing for audio)

3. Title with alpha effect applied

4. Image to give the title color and texture.

ADDED: Note you can of course have a video clip below so that your text texture is dynamic.

Regards,

Carl (who still has his MEP14 available!)

You did it again, Carl!

My offering was identical. Took me a while to remember how to use MEP 14 though.

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/MEP14-Title%2BTexture-1.jpg
