When I import a .VOB file, the audio track does not import correctly. See detail. What am I doing wrong?

When importing .VOB files into the arranger to edit a movie, the first file imports correctly.  Subsequent files import with either the audio track offset from the video by several frames or the first few seconds of the new segment have the audio correct then the rest of the segment has NO audio.

When I play the file in the program monitor, it plays correctly.  It does not matter whether I import the file directly or drag it from the monitor into the arranger, the result is the same.

I am using MEP 2013 Plus Version 12.0.0.30 (UDC1) on Windows 7.

Hi,

You need to think of .VOB files as a container or a wrapper.  They are great for organizing and holding content to be played on a dvd player.  These files are not great for editing for many reasons but the biggest one is the codecs for audio and video may or may not import properly into many video editing applications.

I never try to edit a .VOB file because of the reasons you mention and many more, including garbled audio, missing audio, audio out of sync, missing video and many more.

I always convert these files to a more editor friendly file where I know I have the proper codecs available on my system.  My personal favorite is .MP4 but others prefer .MOV, .AVI, .WMV, .MPG or MPEG.

The converter that I use is a free product called "Any Video Converter" unfortunately the version that I use will not convert to .MOV but I'm sure there are others that will.  When downloading any free application, always follow the installation process and be very careful about accepting the installation of toolbars etc.  This is usually positioned by asking you to accept the "recomended" or "standard" installation.  Uncheck that box and keep looking at all of the questions you are asked to avoid unwanted software from being installed.
