Which version of MEP?  Do you want to use HD footage of any kind (e.g. AVCHD)?  Are you likely to be using 3D footage?

In order to be able to answer your question we need much more detail about what you intend to use MEP for, as well as which version you use.  If you have the boxed version of your software it should include details of recommended minimum as well as "ideal" specs for the graphics card.

Hi,

Here you can see the specs for the entire 8800 series  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units#GeForce_8_.288xxx.29_series

I would think that even though the nvida product and the amd product are reccomended, as long as your GPU meets the spec of the of any of the 8800 series you should be fine.

If you are running a 6 core cpu with 16 gb ram I would doubt very much that your gpu is not up to spec.

Good Luck

Thank you for your time, just have one thing I cant efford this card, so I have been looking at the GTX/s450/550ti or one of these cards, do you think it will work or will I be waisting my money?

Hi ,

From what I can gather the GTS450 is actually a upgrade from the 8200 which is what the MEP spec calls for actually it says 8000 series or better.  The only place you are really going to see the benefits of the higher end graphics cards is for Accelerated AVCHD output.  Since I actually don't do any AVCHD I can't really tell you how much performance would be improved.

Thanks very much for your time and advice, I will wait a little longer to see if anyone else has any more info for me and then I will move on it.

Thanks again...
