I also Own MM20 (AKA) Music maker 2013 and 14 premium  which they removed it so they can market Movie edit :/. So at what point did they remove this ?  I need to get the last version befor they removed it.

Hi,

I have MM2013 and MM2014 Premium. I cannot find the Video Controller/Realtime Visual FX Editor that you show in your post in either program. It would appear that Magix removed this. However, they replaced it with the individual effects and visuals. Click on "Templates" in the Media Pool. You will see Video FX and Visuals. Under Video FX, you have many effects that you can apply to your video or photos. All video effects have a preview function and can be dragged & dropped on a video object into the Arranger.

As MEP is my main program, I didn't notice these before. The visuals are interesting and I can port them over to MEP. However, I would not use anything in the FX as there is no ability to fine tune them, and looking at the Video Controller there never was. The only things that seem to be missing from the current effects are zoom, position, and varying degrees of rotation.

If you want to really make videos properly, get MEP. Remember, MM stands for Music Maker, not Movie Maker. The two programs work together very well using Share.

Bottom line, you still have visual effects in MM2014, they are just not done the same way.

Regards,

Hi again,

I can understand your frustration that Magix removed a little tool that you liked. I have my own beef with Magix about Video Sound Cleaning Lab because they removed spectral cleaning, which was the main reason for having it in the first place. They did not replace it anywhere in the Magix family except in the Samplitude Pro version as an add-on, both of which cost far too much for me. But in your case, making music is the main purpose of the program and they removed a tool that probably was not used very much (except by you) and really could not do a proper job at editing and adding effects to a video. The best tool for that is MEP. I am surprised that you think it is crap. It is one of the best movie editing tools on the market in its price range. Using it can be as simple or as complicated as you want. You have total control over effects using key frames, something that you probably could not do in the MM Video Controller.

Why would you want to purchase another MM just to have a simple tool when you already have the real thing with MEP?

Why is it that you think that MEP is crap? Did you download and install all of the effects? Did you really try to use it? I suggest that you give a proper try.

MM2014 has more than a couple of video effects; there are 40, not including "No effect." There are also 66 Visuals (MXV clips) that are interesting. However, I wouldn't try using any of the effects or visuals directly in MM and I wouldn't have used the Video Controller tool either. I would have ignored it and used MEP for the effects and MM to add in the music, or MM to create the music and MEP to add the visuals with effects to the music.

Did you ask Magix why they removed it?

I have been reading your posts  and do agree with some of your points. I also got older versions of Music Makers and in my opinion they are still best. I also found that in Music Maker when I compose music I can very easily add video with music such as in Music Maker 16 Premium but the features I got in MMM Deluxe 12 are not available in other versions. Refer screen shot.

As you can see in the above screen shot we had good features to edit video easily but sorry to say no longer available in new versions.

Please note in my experience the same version is available with different names. As I got MMM Deluxe 12 but it is also available as 2004.

Well, I'm back....did anybody miss me....in any case, its been known for somttime that all MM versions are stand alone and not really upgrades as such.  Some features remmained, some didn't and some new ffeatures added.  It was what you see is what you get, not what you have you still have.  Thats why its always a good idea to use the 30 day trial version to verify it is indeed what you want...also you should always make up backups of your MM programs  for this very reason.  In the past, the tech staff has said it just might be possible to merge different parrts of the varioous MM programs but they also said you do so at your own risk and they do not support mergers.  Now lately, as i understand it, starting with MM 2014, the customer will be able to Xfer data to the next version of MM which will be 2015, and so on and so on....at least that is what I have been told by MM tech support while working on an issue with MM2014.....we willl have to see if this is true.  Hope this helps
