What is proDAD Heroglyph 4 LE

DNLuce wrote on 2/18/2014, 2:27 PM

I'm considering upgrading to Video Pro X.  proDAD Heroglyph 4 LE is offered as part of the deal.  I find plenty of info on ProDAD Heroglyph 4, but nothing on the LE part which I assume means limited edition.  Does anyone know if this is indeed a stripped down version and if so, how bad is it?

Hi,

You may want to check again.  As far as I can tell the Video Pro X offer does not include any version of Heroglyph.  It currently includes Prodad Mercalli and Red Giant Magic Bullet Quick Looks.  Movie Edit Pro Premium currently shows that it includes Prodad Heroglyph V4 Pro which I would assume is the full version.

Hi George,

As DNL indicated, the offer includes Heroglyph 4 LE. MEP Premium includes the 4 Pro version. So, what is missing? What are the limitations? Navigating from the offer to the Magix X6 Pro site, and looking at the additional programs doesn't help; they don't even mention Heroglyph,

I expect we worked need someone who has both to take a look.

Hi DNL,

The package also includes "2 professional 64-bit effect plugins proDAD Mercalli V2 stabilizes shaky videos, without affecting the dynamics or the quality of the footage. Red Giant Magic Bullet Quick Looks 1.4 features over 100 high-quality presets for professional effects in broadcast quality." They don't mention these as additional, so I presume they come with V6 anyways.

You cannot paste images into messages. You can only import the image (only jpg or jpeg) file by clicking on the button in the menu to the right of the smiley face emoticon. Same with video and audio files, they each have a button. When the image comes into the message, resize it.

Regards,

The Mercalli and Magic Bullet are bundled into the Pro X6.  Mercalli, by the way, is an impressive stabilizer.  I have Mercalli Easy, their cheap basic version, and it's all I use now, despite its limitations.

When I tried to import my image into my addition (using the apppropriate button), I repeatedly received the message "Image URL not found." Which I now find was because I didn't wait long enough!

Hi,

The dollar value of Heroglyph V4 Pro is $349 from Prodad,  This tells me that it is either an older version or as suggested a limited version.  I still don't see this special offer on the Magix.com pro site under all features I get this pdf with no mention of the Heroglyph product.

http://pro.magix.com/uploads/MAGIX_PRO/video_pro_x/pdfs/magix_video_pro_x6_neue_highlights_en.pdf

Could you give me a link that shows this offer?  Did this come from a email offer?  It may have expired by now.

Hi George,

It was all part of an email offer. Here is it broken into parts. The third image shows the Heroglyph part.

Thanks John,

I actually had to go to the US web site and click "buy" before I saw the offer that includes Prodad Heroglyph 4 LE. No other information about it and this is I guess a upgrade for according for anyone who owns a Magix video editing program.  The link is

Hi,

I could not find an example of Heroglyph LE but I did find one for Vitascene

I can only assume that the "Pro" version contains some or all of the of the creative packs that are not yet available for version 4.  Some prodad dealers are offering the "Heroglyph Rapid" version as is prodad.  Rapid sounds like a pretty basic version and currently sells for around $80 on the Prodad site. Here is the link.

Hi George,

Thanks for that. It gives us a better idea. Maybe we can have someone who just purchased the package take a look to see if it corresponds to the Rapid version. I'll link this over to someone in the X forum.

Are you an X5 user?

Thanks,

Generally speaking ProDAD "LE" versions are cut-downs of the full program, specially produced (?) to work with specific video editors, in this case ProX6.  I think the hope is that the user will want to upgrade to the "full" version!

I have X5 but not X6 because I don't have a 64 bit OS but I do have Heroglyph Rapid 2.6 (upgraded from the LE version in an earlier MAGIX program, can't remember which one) which, as far as I can tell, is the same as the "standard" Heroglyph 2.

I found the link that gives information on Heroglyph Pro vs LE

http://www.prodad.com/home/products/videotiteling/heroglyph/300514306,l-us.html

I bought X6 and started playing with Heroglyph. It is probably overkill for me, but there are interesting features and I like the Script capabilities. Heroglyph shows up under Titles, which is strange since the travel route animation and Slideshow are something different.

Basically, LE has limited customization features, but it looks like there is enough there to keep one busy for a long time.
