What is Going on at Magix?

beatbackevil wrote on 12/3/2012, 3:49 PM

What ever happened to the stand alone programs that came on a CD and worked like they were suppose to? Progams like Nero that installs with their keys no matter how many times your PC crashes?

Why is it after a while functions like my MP4 activation code does not work and when I try to find a solution here on the web via Tech or Service support I'm routed to pay for an upgrade of what I've already paid for? When I finally do get thru with the "ACTIVATION" process, when its not telling my PC ID isn't my PC that is, I'm sent a "0" for an activation code? Is this all by design? I'm beginning to wonder?

Hi,

No one here can really answer your question because no one on this forum actually works for or represents Magix.  We are all users here trying to help other users.  Magix hosts the forum, but if you want to talk to Magix directly you need to do it via www.magix.com not this forum.

Good Luck,

George

Thank you for your answer, but  I was on their web page trying to contact support and tech, I even did the "Activation" page a half a dozen times or so and it wasn't just their web pages, but over the phone where I kept getting an "our line is busy please call back later " reruns, wasn't much help either? I suspect if I pay that $13.00 I'll be fixed right up until the next time I suddenly cannot edit my movies.  It's why I asked what is going on?

Hi,

I have been in the computer industry for over 35 years, and it has really changed a lot.  Most software companies usually allow you 1 download and after that you are on your own unless you purchase their "download protection" service.  Magix as far as I know allows you to download and re-install and re-activate up to 3 times.  Nero may be a little different if they allow unlimited downloads and re-activation.

More important, if your system crashes on a regular basis and you need to re-install applications, you need to figure out why that is happening because if you have to re-install your Windows OS it is going to be much more difficult than anything you hae described so far.

Well okay, thank you.  I'll try the phones God willing, tomorrow again and if they don't answer, as it is now I feel an article coming on about these sort ot things, maybe I'll write about my experience in my paper. Thank you again.
