Didi you try to setup the driver manulaly using the keys p & r in the program?

Any actual soundcard is suitable  for Cleaning Lab. However, some IDT chips or Connexant chips maybe problematic.

In such cases the simplest solution ist to buy an external soundcard (usb). But don`t buy just the cheapest. You may want to refer to this guide.

Hi

What is the soundcard chipset in the Dell computer?

Eg Realtek HDA, DTS HDA, Conexant or other?

Hi

What is the make and model of your Dell PC?

John EB

It is a Dell XPS 410, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 (2MB L2 Cache, 1.86GHz, 1066FSB)

The operating system that came with was Windows XP Media Center, CD and Dual TV Tuner, Remote, however I converted to Windows 8.1 when the upgrade became available.

Sound Cards - Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition

Hi

Thanks for the information.

I suspect that the problem is with the SB Audigy drivers - Windows 8.1 may have ibstalled 64 bit drivers for the sound card and you need 32 bit drivers for ACL for it to be recognised

Dell does not appear to have released any new drivers  for your computer since 2011 and they are for Windows XP

There are drivers available  here, however you may have a problem persuading the installer to install the 32 bit version.
