So I can upgrade to any version of the 2023 Software with a licence to the standard version of the 2022 Software?
(I know that "upgrading" means purchasing a licence for the newer version at the reduced upgrade price. So my question is: what licences can I purchase at the reduced upgrade price with a licence for "Movie Studio 2022", Standard version?)
I'm pretty sure that Magix will be happy to keep your business. They do like you to upgrade to a more expensive product. Since you are a registered user of Magix Movie Studio, Magix has your details. All you do is select the Upgrade price and purchase. The current price ends today...maybe.
Just make sure that your hardware is powerful enough. You may want to have this checked out on the forum by posting your hardware and operating system information.
As far as I'm aware you can upgrade from an older version of the same program to a newer version but prices may vary depending on which version you have upgraded from. Or you could cross grade from say Movie Studio or Movie Edit Pro to Video Pro X. Again the amount you will vary dependent on what program you have come from and which program you are upgrading or cross grading to. This is why you will be asked to provide your current product key when you apply. All such offers are normally well below prices quoted when the products are offered at sale prices.
Do check your computer specs are still able to work with newer versions of the program first though. You should aim to be above all the minimum requirements if possible for a more guaranteed experience of performance.

My question is only about what upgrade options I have with a licence for standard version of "Movie Studio 2022" regarding the different versions of "Movie Studio 2023" ("Standard", "Platinum" or "Suite"). I didn't use this licence yet and I might want to keep it that way and resell it, and I would like to tell the buyer what upgrade options he or she would have with that licence.
When I go to "https://www.magix.com/us/video-editor/movie-studio/", I don't even see an upgrade button for the Standard version, but I see upgrade buttons for the "Platinum" version and for the "Suite" version. That makes me confused, because this makes it look like one cannot upgrade to the "Standard" version and has to always pay the full price for it. And that makes me wonder whether an older "Standard" version licence is viable for an upgrade to the latest "Platinum" or "Suite" version.
How do you upgrade to the base program? Why should it be on the upgrade page?
You are upgrading to, not from.
Ray.
From an older "Movie Studio 2022" ("Standard/basic" version) to the latest "Movie Studio 2023" ("Standard" or "Platinum" or "Suite" version). What upgrade options would I have?
"Upgrade" means from an older version (here: 2022 version) to the latest version (currently: 2023 version). Which again is offered in 3 different versions: "Standard", "Platinum" and "Suite".
And "Upgrade" means "purchasing a licence for the newer version at the reduced upgrade price".
So, the question is about my licence upgrade options. I have a licence for "Movie Studio 2022", Standard/base version. Which licence upgrade options do I have regarding one of the 3 versions of "Movie Studio 2023"?
Normally at the end of a licence period you are invited to renew your licence which would then entitle you to obtain the latest version of the program, whatever that version would be at that time. Otherwise the only other option for the base program is to upgrade to another version or buy a new version of the base program. As the base program is always the cheapest option I have never seen it offered at a sale price. There is no free update service to the latest version within a licence period.

I am asking for exact information about my upgrade options (I have a licence for "Movie Studio 2022", Standard/base version. Which licence upgrade options do I have regarding one of the 3 versions of "Movie Studio 2023"?) and you don't seem to have that information.
I think the only people who can aswer my question are support staff members of MAGIX or people who upgraded from an older Standard/base version of "Movie Studio" to one of the 3 versions of "Movie Studio 2023" by purchasing a licence for the 2023 version at the reduced upgrade price.
The answers I gave you in my first reply are correct as to upgrades. I have made some of those purchases myself.
Ray.
So, which of the 3 versions of "Movie Studio 2023" could I purchase at the reduced upgrade price if I have the licence for the Standard/base version of "Movie Studio 2022"?
That is my question and so far, it hasn't been answered.
@JuergenHrw Usually you can upgrade to every version for the same reduced price as long as you have an older version registered to your user account. It also shouldn't make a difference if you upgrade from a version that is 10 years old or from a version that is one year old or if you upgrade from a basic or suite version. It only matters if you already have a previous version registered.
Put the version you want to purchase into the virtual basket and go to checkout. You cannot do this if your old version isn't accepted for upgrades. If it's possible to open the checkout site you can purchase the upgrade.

Just a suggestion - why not work through the purchse / upgrade procedure and see what it lets you purchase? You can always stop before you add your credit card number or whatever payment you choose.
An issue for me is (and I said that previously) that I need the information beforehand without going through the purchasing process, because then I would need to activate my licence first - and I don't want to do that. The reason I am asking for this information (of course it wouldn't be that difficult for me to go through the purchasing process by myself and to find out this way) is that I want to resell this yet unused licence and I would like to be able to tell the buyer, which upgrade (purchasing) options he or she would have with the licence he or she is buying (Movie Studio 2022, Standard/base version).
Also, I have an acivated licence for an older "Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum" version and I have licences for different older versions of "Vegas Pro" - so it might turn out to be difficult to determine whether it would be the licence for "Movie Studio 2022, Standard" which would enable some upgrade options or one of the other licences I have.
I guess I will have wo write to MAGIX directly (infoservice@magix.net; as @AAProds said) and ask them to get an information and answer I can rely on, as MAGIX' upgrade policy for "Movie Studio" and its different versions doesn't seem to be that obvious, that simple, that accessible and that publicly known.

That's more or less the information I was asking for. But I can't rely on "usually" and "should/shouldn't". I understand that you are probably correct. But I need to be 100% sure. So I guess there is no way around writing directly to MAGIX and asking the staff. I thought they might also be answering questions here in the forum, but they didn't.
As different countries have different consumer laws and requirements we tend to keep our answers as general as we can where things like returns policies or prices may vary and if we personally have not tried every combination of an answer to a particular question, how can we give any form of specific reply? We are only users of the programs with our individual experiences.
As for contacting Magix, try sales@Magix.net or infoservice@magix.net. Don't expect an immediate reply other than the automated one telling you they have received your email. The reply may take more than one week.
There are no interactive Magix staff on the US forums.

I don't blame any user for not being able to answer my question. It's just that I need a specific answer for a specific question and with that, I have little to no use for unspecific answers or answers to questions I didn't pose or explanations why you personally cannot answer my question. There is little to no use in trying to answer questions you cannot answer.

That's actually useful information, given the circumstance that I probably won't get an absolutely reliable answer to my question here in the forum. Thank you for that! @AAProds already pointed me to that direction, and I already stated that I am going to write to MAGIX directly and ask the MAGIX staff this way. As soon as I get an answer from the staff, I will post an essential summary of the response here and let whoever is interested know.
What I have done in the past (and I have registered versions of the software), is select the the level I want (go Platinum or Suite, not "basic"), click the appropriate upgrade button on the Magix page for the version I want to upgrade to. You will be asked to log into your account, and you will be at your shopping cart. There is the price of the upgrade for you. At the moment, the upgrade from Movie Edit Pro 2022 Plus (what I own) to MS2023 Suite is $44.99, a $15 savings. And no, you do not have to purchase to find out the price. Just log out and that's it.

But you have to own/purchase a licence for a predecessor version to be able to purchase a licence for the latest version(s) of the software for the reduced upgrade price. And I don't want to activate the licence I have for reasons I explained above several times.
I just need to know what upgrade options I (would) have with an (activated/registered) licence for "Movie Studio 2022, Standard/basic". I licence which I don't want to activate, as I want to resell it, so I am basically "asking for a friend".
Btw, the following screenshots show what the webpage for "Movie Studio 2023" tells me. It seems like there is no upgrade option at all for the Standard/basic version, only for "Platinum" and "Suite".
Once the licence is activated, one of the first notifications you will get on booting up the program should be a notification to upgrade to the latest version. This I don't know for 100% accuracy as I've never owned the base version but it has certainly happened on every other version I've owned if a newer version was available at the time the licence was activated. Any licence can be deactivated at any time so no harm done finding out.

I am not going to activate a licence that I want to sell. Even if it could be deactivated again. I want it to remain unused - it kinda seems wrong to sell a software licence that was already in use - at least for that kind of software. Also, then I would have to sell it as a "used" item - this wouldn't sell well.
(Oh dear, I spent way too much time with bothering to sell a licence which could only be sold for a few bucks. I am not a good business man ... ;-) Maybe this information could be useful in the future again ...)

Yes, since about 40,000 Humble Bundles were jut sold containing Movie Studio 2022 basic and probably most people who purchased the bundle do not want Movie Studio 2022 and are willing to donate it to some deserving person - one who is just starting video editing. I am one of them (offering to donate, as the goal is to get new Magix users). So, the value of your program just dropped even more.
The licence covers two activations at one time, meaning the program can be placed and active on two machines at any one time. The only caveat is the activation must come from the same email address and corresponding ip address.
If you sell the software all you have to do is de-register the software completely from your Magix account before you send them the activation code as well as the download link. They can then register the program with their email address. It makes no difference as to whether the software was activated before or not as there is no way for the purchaser to verify this. There is no user history recorded outside of an individual account. Nobody actually owns a software program, only the licence to use it under the end user licence agreement. If any company went bust and the servers were taken down it would be impossible to activate any further installments of those programs without hacking the program.
