The bit rate will vary depending on the codec selected for encoding the video, as some codecs are more efficient at the encoding than others and use different encoders for the audio output stream. In my experience there is little to choose between the output of each if the highest bit-rate available is chosen in the advanced settings box of the export settings.
The older the codec, the higher the file size has to be to maintain a similar degree of fidelity.
