way to rollback "updates"? software now just randomly "hangs" renderin

a) Is there a way to roll back this super buggy software?

b) Now I can't even render a movie - it just "hangs" at random spots, and the tech support is virtually non existant.

Even "editing" - I can't edit certain parts - because it just 'hangs' as well.

Thanks.

Hi

. . . . Is there a way to roll back this super buggy software? . . . .

Only by re-installing the previous version.

What is the current version number and full name of the program with issues and what was the previous version number and full name when it worked?

. . . . Now I can't even render a movie - it just "hangs" at random spots, and the tech support is virtually non existant.Even "editing" - I can't edit certain parts - because it just 'hangs' as well. . . .

We need more information to help diagnose the issue(s) you are having:

  • The specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

  • I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

  •  What will not work, please be specific rather than a generalised comment ? Remeber we cannot see your computer screen.

  • Are you getting any error messages, if so then please quote them in full or provide screen shots.

  • Are the graphics card/integrated GPU drivers up to date?

  • A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab  would help.

  • What video format, codec and resolution are you importing to the timeline - to help with this download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Hi,

Further to what John EB indicated, open Windows Task Manager, and look at the performance. Check to see if one of your hard drives takes off to 100% for several minutes, when the program hangs. If so, then one or more of your video clips is causing problems. This happens to me with videos created using a screen capture program.

You will need to convert your files using Handbrake.

Okay,

a) Was surprised to get a fast response here. (I had sent tech support a message for a previous issue, took them 2 weeks to respond, - and then it seemed they didn't even read the question because I had included the necessary information in the e-mail, and they asked for the exact same thing that was in the body of the e-mail).

b) Is there a way to download the "actual" software program, and not a "download installer?" I'd like to have an "actual" copy on my system - but just have the download installer... if so, please point me in the directino of that - so I can install the 'previous' version. I think it was 2-3 version numbers before the most recent. (22.0.3.172).

c) Basically - what happened was this. It would "hang" mid-way in the rendering process. Fortunatley it shows "where" (in the movie) it hung, and it seemed to "hang" on the rendering of an alpha blend between 3 short image clips. (I.e., [IMAGE001][IMAGE002][IMAGE003] overlapping each other with an alpha blend transition between each image). Extremely annoying - shouldn't "hang" like that - but basically moved one clip (image) to a new video whatever you call it - tab/reel/? (I forget at the moment what its called) - manually applied an alpha blend to that image - and it seemed to work. It shouldn't hang - but did until I did that.

Hi

. . . . "hang" on the rendering of an alpha blend between 3 short image clips . . . .

Can clarify what you mean by 'Alpha blend' - do you mean a standard Crossfade, or did actually use Chromakey Alpha to transition from one image to another?

A screen shot of this section of the timeline would help.

I mean the standard cross fade. I.e., when you take one image and overlay it on another image, and it automatically crossfades them.

Having 3 images hung the program when trying to render.

The problem could be with your program settings.

What do you see in the program settings Device options section?

Can you show us what options you have available?
