Vsti sequencer midi out to external synth not working

I have a sequencer Vsti in which its midi send is enabled. It appears as a midi input on a track. I have set the midi out of the track to my external synth midi port via the pulldown in the track. The midi data from the sequencer is not being output to the synth. It will record to the track and play out to the synth however. I would like the sequencer’s midi out to pass thru to the synth in real time.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a solution?

@mitch-cary Did you add the sequence plugin as a MIDI plugin via the drop down menu (small arrow next to the add button) in the plugin browser?

Thank you I did not know about this option. I should point out that this plugin (Orbit) strictly generates sequencer data and does not generate any audio so as a plugin, i need it to run via project clock/tempo and output its sequence midi data to the assigned output device which in this case is a synth. The synth's midi in and out have been enabled in the samplitude settings.

That said, however, I deleted and then added the VSTI sequencer, this time selecting the midi plugin option as you suggested. The problem now is that when I hit play, the sequencer does not sequence as if it has no clock. The monitoring section is set to Hybrid and my midi inputs are generating clock. I enabled sync and checked MC option from my keystep which is outputting midi clock. That did not work either.

The midi plug in option seems like it is for triggering a midi plugin from a controller and only recording the input notes rather than the plugins output. In this case, the plugin is self running and spewing midi notes which I just want to direct to assigned midi out.
