vst plugin not working Variverb pro on MMM 2013 premium

andy-p98 wrote on 9/18/2015, 6:50 PM

I got Samplitude pro x 2, it came with variverb pro, i installed it on MMM 2013 premium.  The vst shows up but their is no reverb effect coming out just the original signal. the audio meters work but their is no effect. I want to get it to work, plus i used the 32 bit vst plugin into MMM 2013. Or is it just not compatible?  It works fine on Samplitude Pro x 2 but i want to use it on MMM 2013 cause i got accustomed doing certain audio tricks on it.  I am using windows 10

Hi

Not all VST plugins will work with MMM - it depends on the version and type and whether MMM supports that particular combination.

There are three versions of VST - VST, VST 2 and VST 3.

There are also three different types - Instuments, Effects and MIDI effects - the only type of VST's I have working in MMM are some Instruments.

Hi,

I obtained Variverb as a freebie with one of the versions of Sam Music Studio or MMM; don't recall which. It installs itself in the VST folders for both 32 and 64 bits. For MMM, you have to add the correct path to the VST:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\MAGIX\VariVerb II

Yours should be at the same location. If not, then you have to find it. This is for the 32 bit version, as MMM is not 64 bit.

I don't know if it works with 2013, but Variverb works with all of my other versions, including Movie Edit Pro, ACL, AML, VSCL, Music Studio, Music Editor 3, except those programs that do not accept VST plugins, like MM basic, Score Edition, etc.

You say that you installed Variverb for MMM. There is no "installation" for MMM or any other program, as I indicated above. So, what did you do?

Thank's johnbaker,  As for browj2 i thank you too.  Sorry i wrote installed on their but i copied the variverb .dll into the plug in folder for mmm 2013 and yes i did get the 32 bit version, but i think johnbaker made the point, the version that came with samplitude pro x 2 is a vst 3 and that is why i think it is not working on mmm 2013.

Hi Andy,

I'm pretty sure that the version that came with Sam Pro X2 is VST2 not 3. I have Pro X2. They have major problems with VST3. The version that I have was installed in both 32 and 64 bit locations. You can't just copy the 64 bit dll to the 32 bit location and expect it to work.

When you installed Sam Pro X2, I think that both 32 and 64 bit versions can be installed. Some users complained about this as they were using 32 bit version by default. In this case, Variverb would have been installed into both locations, but it would not have been installed as I indicated. In my case, it is also installed under:

C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Samplitude Pro X2\MAGIX Plugins

It is quite possible that this will not work with any other Magix program, as is the case with many of the other plugins. For ex., some of the eFX effects that came with Audio & Music Lab 2014 Premium are not available with any of the other programs. Some that came with MMM also work with Samplitude Music Studio, but nothing else. Magix told me that these were special versions, not full versions. The full versions, you have to obtain separately if you want them to work with other Magix programs.

My first Variverb was a separate install, full program, which is why it works with everything. So I have it twice.

Out of curiosity, what audio tricks are you using in MMM that you can't do in Sam?

Browj2,  what i do, you can still do it on Samplitude pro x 2, i just find it a little easier when i do it on mmm 2013, or maybe i just have to get use to the new software, i just got it 2 weeks ago, i just have to adjust a new workflow.  But i still think it would have been a plus if i could use it on mmm 2013, but i will adjust, thanks.
