Vst

Jos-vanHulst wrote on 2/7/2021, 12:00 PM

I bought Music Maker 2019 but I only started recently working with it. I made my first composition and everything seems to work fine. But I have a few problems/questions about vst-plugins. Following several maps and directory’s in Windows, as well as the menus in MM itself, there should be available several vst-plugins such as LE Grand Piano, Revolta and others. But my menu shows that I have installed ‘no vst’s’ and I can’t change that. On the same hand I notice that there is a pianosound available on my keyboard(view) but it doesn’t sound! I can record it, in midi-rec mode, and hear it afterwards but I don’t hear it when I play it.

so my questions are:1. Why can’t I undo ‘no vst’s’ ? 2. How can I activate other vst’s like Revolta since it seems to be present in the right Windows directory en MM does show the right pad to find it? 3. How can I make the keyboard sound when I play it?

Hi

. . . . Music Maker 2019 but I only started recently working with it . . . .

What is the version number as found under Help, About and the variant - Free Plus, Premium or an edition?

Did you download and install all the Extra content after activation?

@Jos-vanHulst To be able to use VST-Instruments please activate the VST-support in the store. To be able to use VITA-Instruments you need to install them in via the download-Tab and then it should work. To be able to hear what you play in realtime you must you an ASIO driver in the Audio/Midi Settings. A driver named 'Magix Low Latency' is already available in Music Maker.

My version is MM 2019 Premium Edition (64 bit) Nr 29.05.32

Jos-vanHulst wrote on 2/8/2021, 7:45 AM

Thank you so much for your help. I tried ro download the free vst Freedrum Rock and that works. Still don’t understand why e.g. Revolta (available in a Magix directory) doesn’t work. When i check my account the store says that everything and every update I should have (MM premium 2019) has been installed. I tried the Asio-driver bu it doesn’t give me realtime sound when I play the piano on the keyboard with my mouse.

@Jos-vanHulst

Version 29.0.5.32 is actually the latest release of Music Maker 2021, not MM 2019.

From what you write, I suspect you have been "caught out" by the on-screen message that an update was available, which you have now installed.

The 2021 release of Music Maker was brand new and the first 64 bit version; in order to be able to use ALL the features of the Premium variant of it required the user to upgrade, not simply update. IOW, this was something that had to be paid for! Updating MM 2019 has now given you the Free variant of MM 2021; if you want to restore ALL the Premium features which you previously had, including access to VSTs, you need to buy the Upgrade.

Once you have purchased this upgrade and installed all the Extra content that @johnebaker mentions, your 2021 version will then be the full, Premium variant.

For your question about hearing sounds from the on-screen keyboard: which audio driver type are you using?

Hi Jeff, not a nice answer to hear. I think you are right. Why can’t I just uninstall MM 2021 and reinstall MM2019 to get back the ‘old’ features? I use the wav-driver for audio input which enables me to play (and record) mu electric piano which is connected tot the audio-input of my realtek soundcard. When I switch to the asio-driver, as suggested, the piano gives a scratchy noise when I record it.

@Jos-vanHulst

Hi

. . . . When I switch to the asio-driver, as suggested, the piano gives a scratchy noise when I record it. . . . .

The 'scratchy' noise within MMM 2021 is probably due to the audio buffer sizes being to small.

Check in your account at magix.com, My products that the MMM 2019 download is still available - if it is you can uninstall MMM 2021 clean up the files left behind, we suggest using Revo Uninstaller free to do the uninstall and clean up, and then re-install 2019, activate it with your serial number and download and install the Extra Content again - if you elected to keep this in the Magix Downloads folder on the first install, the files there will be check and used.

You will get this 'nag' screen every time you start the program, however it can be ignored.

if you click Changes in this patch 29.0.4.25 you will see this is MMM 2021 upgrade.

However even if the free Music Maker 2021 was installed Revolta should be available.

Jos-vanHulst wrote on 2/8/2021, 2:30 PM

Yes, I think so. Yet when I try to activate it in the menu MM says ‘Revolta cannot be installed’. The files are in the directories and the paths to scan for vst’s are rightly specified.?!?!?

browj2 wrote on 2/8/2021, 2:32 PM

@Jos-vanHulst

Revolta is not in the VST folders, it's in a Magix folder - no need to scan it.

What "menu" are you using to open Revolta? I use the normal + button at the left of the track header.

Hi John, thanks for your advise. I already scanned several folders and certainly the one you indicate as well as the one where I found ‘revolta.dll’. To open Revolta I normally use the same menu as you suggest besides several other possibilities to open it. What really is strange is that in my menu the coloured ‘v’ keeps being at ‘no vst’s’.
