Video Saver ! 2022 doesn't recognize LG RC1855 DVD/VHS video player

Hi.

Check your scart plug has the correct input / output setting on the switch. It could be that.

I had trouble finding the specs needed to run that program.

They are (I think)

Processor 2.4 GHz

RAM 4 GB

Resolution integrated, minimum resolution 1280 x 720, 1024 MB VRAM and DirectX 11 support (recommended: Intel Graphics HD 520 or higher for MPEG2/AVC/HEVC)

Hard drive 2 GB hard drive space for program installation.

Internet connection: Required for registering and validating the program, as well as for some program functions.

Registration Program requires one-time registration.

My guess would be that your ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series graphics card has insufficient vram to record to MPEG2.

I would wait for other replies though as I am just going by system specs. I don't use that program or record from video tape players.

the program works on my laptop which has a lot more muscle and video
resolution is 1600x900. Let's see if there any other suggestions though.

My desktop hard drive is 1.5 TB so that shouldn't be a problem.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with "muscle" or video cards. If Magix can't see the stick itself, regardless of what is connected to the stick, that points to a driver issue. For example, my USB capture stick (not a Video Saver) can be "seen" by Movie Edit Pro when it is plugged in, even when there is no VCR attached to the stick itself. I just get a blue screen in the capture window:

Video Saver drivers have come up before. Try a search of the forum or wait for JohnEB to come along. He's the resident whiz on those sticks.

Well. it seems that this is a video card memory problem. My video adapter has only 512 MB VRAM which is not enough. The program spec say at least 1024 MB VRAM i needed.

Hi Vido.

You could check for definite with Magix but I am noticing a trend in new video related software in general to specify an amount of dedicated vram as well as an amount of motherboard ram.

Basically because that is where most of the improvements in rendering times and the smoothness in playback of these newer programs is coming from.

There is a good and extensive article on the subject here but there are many others on the web as well.

A brief look at some of the tables within the article. There are many others to look at as well.

While the requirements for your program is not as high as that recommended for programs that handle higher resolutions I do think Magix is taking advantage of using vram for more of the 3D processing done while rendering or for playback.

I find that sites information backs up what I am finding working on my own project resolution workloads where I feel I would have a much better experience with another 2 to 4GBs of vram as well as possibly a better bus width.

When only working at 1920 x 1080 resolutions I don't suffer problems at all but at 4K things really slow down, even with the use of proxy files.

Vido, I know I'm using MEP 2022 but I assume the basic program engine is the same in Videosaver (or, I suspect, Rescue Your Videotapes). My computer is way under the min spec for MEP but it runs the program nicely, especially with Standard Definition video such as VHS captures.

Oddly, the VideoEasy program (which appears to be the actual software) only requires 512mb of video RAM.
