Hi,

You should have posted this in the Forum part as it will get buried quickly here under many other Q's. Maybe John EB can move it.

I may be hijacking your question here. Do you have other third party plugins that you have tried?

I have been trying out the German version of VPX7. The only New Blue that I have that works in 64bits is the Titler EX that comes with VPX6 and 7, I presume. It seems to work ok.

I had installed some NB trial 64 bit programs and was given one with MEP2015, but was never able to get them to work in MEP2015 or VPX6. Someone else will have to help out. Maybe you could ask Magix sales support what works and what doesn't.

I have managed to crash the program consistently using Red Giant Knoll Light Factory EZ when placing a glow (default glow) on an mp4 from my cell phone in HD, and on an mov from my Canon DSLR Rebel T4i, but the mts file from my Canon HFR21 video camera worked ok.

Other than that, proDAD Heroglyph indicates that it is only licensed for VPX6 and asks to input license info or continue in read only mode. Read only mode worked and I was able to create a title and save it, so I don't know what to do with that one.

proDAD Adorage worked, as did Red Giant Chromatic Glow, Retrograde and Magic Bullet Quick Looks, although I did manage to crash the program once with Quick Looks on an mp4 clip. It worked the second time round.

Pixelan suite seems to work fine.

proDAD Mercalli 2.0 worked but gave me a blue X across the screen. I'll have to wait to see how Mercalli V4 works with VPX7. It works great as a standalone but I didn't buy it as the price was about 200$ on sale. Hopefully the upgrade to VPX7 will be about the same price.

I managed to export to 1920x1080 wmv file and reimport it.

Can't burn a DVD in the trial version.

Other tests:

  • Create mask with Xara 9 - ok
  • Create title with 3D Maker - ok
  • Mix down audio - ok
  • Couldn't export wav to Music Editor - Alt+Z, doing it a second time tells me that the file is being edited in another program - same problem in VPX6
  • Still having same problem in Mixer with FX - Audio FX don't work, have to use Esc to get out. Must be a problem with my computer
  • Photo Designer 7 opened ok
  • Measuring instruments seem to work as in VPX6.

My short German trial just ran out. Will have to install the English version to understand better.

What other testing have you done? Find anything that didn't work?

Hey John, I got a response back from NewblueFX, with links to installers that they say will work with Magix Video Pro X6 and X7.

I ran all the installers and all the above now now in both X6 and X7 (and appear to have updated the X5 versions also). So, I've taken the plunge and upgraded to X7 and am in the process of downloading all the content for X7.

Mercalli 2.0 shows in the effects section, but I plan to uninstall without testing it...was working fine in X5, but I didn't even try it in X6 (I shoot tripod, camera crane, monopod, so don't have a big need for it, unless using someone elses footage). But I do look forward to trying out v4.

Yes, Heroglyph gives me the same message. Wonderful how they 'lock' it to a version. I also spent $70 to unlock the AVCIntra Encoder in X6 and fully expect to be screwed out of more money for X7...wording probably buried in teh licensing agreement somewhere..

Interesting that in the download content process you get a number of Movie Edit Pro content options...always thought it was weird that Video Pro X came with so little content....as if the extra movie templates are beneath our notice as exhaulted users of the professional version of the NLE.

I have the Pixelan plug ins and they showed up and worked fine in X6...will test when the content is downloaded and installed later today (and over the weekend).

Will report back when I can...

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of uninstalling the German trial and then I'll update. Main reasons are Mercalli V4 and multi-language DVD which didn't work in X6.

Mercalli V4 has a nice feature. Here is what Peter said about it a while ago: "V4 takes into account that parts of the said shot may be quite stable and so only zooms those parts to a lesser degree. When the really bad bits of the shot come along it dynamically zooms the shot to the degree necessary to eliminate the larger border caused by the greater shifting of the frame required to effect the stabilisation."

I noticed that V2 would take the tightest zoom in and apply it to the entire clip, which was not what I wanted.

Glad I didn't buy V4 SAL when it was offered and waited for this opportunity.

A follow up note from Newblue says that the Light Effects plug in and all the transition plug ins (Light Blends, Paint Blends/etc..) will not work with Magix.  I was provided with the latest version of Titler EX for Magix version 140725 and after I ran the installer it does show up in Video Pro X7...I haven't tested it yet (in the process of finishing a project in X6) but I'm hopeful that I've regained use of about $1,200 worth of my plug ins and only lost about $900 worth to the dust bin of upgrades...
