What is the format of those video files?

From another post in this forum:

The following formats are supported in Photo Manager:

Images:- BMP, JPG, Kodak Photo CD and TIF image files

Video:- AVI, MPEG, MOV (AVC encoded only), MXV and WMV (HD)

Audio:- MP3, OGG, WAV, CD (non copy protected)

So, your video files must be one of those listed formats in order for PM to see it.

mp4

IS THERE AN ADDON OR CONVERTION?

emmrecs wrote on 1/13/2021, 8:58 AM

@john-m4987

An add-on, No.

There are various video convertors available, both free and paid-for. But the quality of the output may not be waht you want!

BTW, please don't post ALL IN CAPITALS. It is considered the equivalent of shouting!

Not shouting, just need to evaluate Migix for my use. I look only for a program that can sort in and orderly manner all photos and videos imported from my telephone. So sadly dissapointed

Hi,

Magix is a company, not a program.

I presume that you are talking about Photo Manager. Which version and what is your operating system?

What is the file format of the videos that do not show up in Photo Manager? Videos show up in my version and play.

Hi

. . . . my phone takes and I import . . . .

What encoding format are they - MP4 is a container file format and can contain many encoding formats for video and audio.

Download and install MediaInfo and use it to analyse one of the phone clips - if you see this line in the video section of the Text view in MediaInfo

Format/Info                              : High Efficiency Video Coding

the video encoding format is HEVC which is an unsupported format in Photo Manager.

Yes that is what I would expect also. If I look with windows 10 files structure it sees rhe files in a folder but if I look at rhe same folder with Magic it shows an empty foldder! This is why I am confused. It does not make sense.

@john-m4987

I take it that you are using the trial version of Photo Manager (please, do not just say Magix) which most likely has limitations on Codecs for certain types of video files, like MP4. Do you have any avi or wmv video files that you can check?

OK photo manager, (but that suggests it can't do videos). Anyway yes trial version, and if you are saying that the full version will do MP4 that's fine? I could not believe it would not, but just to see an empty folder looked wrong and totally confused me, it is not about the cost. I was trying several before I bought.

@browj2, @john-m4987

Hi John

Are the GoPro videos shown in image above HEVC encoded?

To expand on John Cb's comment -

. . . .  if you are saying that the full version will do MP4 that's fine . . . .

it will with conditions.

As I said above MP4 is a container file format - you need to check which video codec is used in the files.

From the manual - supported video formats:

DirectShow-compatible standard formats with installed codecs (AVI, MOV, MJPEG, MPEG, etc.) MPEG-4, AVCHD (Windows 8 or higher), WMV9.

If you do not have the appropriate codec for the encoded video that is in the MP4 container file - it will not be supported - eg if the video is encoded HEVC and you do not have the HEVC codec installed it will not be supported.

Sorry, I am not clever enough to understand the implication of what you are explaining.

I can only say that when I look at the folder I imported from my telephone explorer sees them in the folder and plays them.

Then the full version of Photo Manager should see them as well.
