Video Edit Pro 2016 cannot connect with camcorder

I am using Windows 10 64 bit software and Magix Video Edit Pro 2016. I cannot get the software to connect to my camcorder a Sony HRD FX7. I have tried telling it to transfer as a DV camcorder but that makes no difference.I link the two with an ilink cable to a Firewire input on the mother board  It does work on a canon XM1. Has anyone had this problem and solved it. I can get no answer from Magix Technical Support

Hi

Has MEP 2016 been able to connect to the camera before or is this the first time you have tried to capture from the camera?

If you have been able to connect - what has changed on the computer?

If you have not been able to connect, did you try connecting as specified in the Note section of Connect a DV or HDV camera  in the installed PDF manual (page 87 in my version).

Hi,

Check if your Firwire port is active also check if you use the input or the output of this port. Use the device manager in Windows, also have you a special Firewire cable.

Regards,
