Video does not import into MM 64 bit 2020

I have been trying to get a short video into MM 2020 Premium so I can sync/score a track to the soundpools I purchased.

1. I surf to file manager>my computer>etc. and locate the file

2. NO file imports, not even a mxv file from Movie Edit Pro, no matter the resolution, frame rate, etc. The video is 1280x720, with sound efx track, rendered from a pro editing program as h264.

ALSO rendered as a wmv, avi, quicktime and many others with many codecs and settings.

3. The error I get is always the same:

(please right click to open this image in a new tab to see the 1920x1080 version)

4. Working on windows 10 home 64 bit, 16g memory, 8 gb video ram. Plenty of space on all hard drives. Never have this issue with any of the dozen or so software programs I run.

5. I've tried turning off the Windows Defender security. Still unable to import a simple video file. The manual clearly states video import is possible (while discouraging avi import).

6. Even more confusing: in the video settings tab in the program, there is an option to import a series of images as a video file, but how???

7. STILL images import just fine, and show up in the video monitor, but are pretty useless when trying to score a movie.

This seems like a really simple function, readily available in ACID, Sound Forge and other programs, but I've already invested a ton in soundpools and would hate to have to re-invest in some other program just to get video playback!

@JOHN-CARSTARPHEN

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

First, can you confirm exactly which version of MM you have (check under Help>About...)? The problem of inability to import video files is number one on this bugs list for version 29, but I don't remember it being listed as a problem in version 28.

@JOHN-CARSTARPHEN

I can see that you have installed Music Maker 2021 as Song Maker shows in the bottom window. It is new in this version as a tab in the bottom window.

MMM 2021 has a bug and videos do not load - see bug no. 1 on the bug list indicated by Jeff. Magix is aware of this and other problems and a patch will likely come out in the next few weeks.

Just so that you know, Music Maker is free. When you purchase Plus or Premium, you are getting some features, presets, instruments and Soundpools, not the program. You have Premium 2020 and you should have it activated in 2021 and downloaded and installed everything under the Downloads button at the upper right of the Media Pool, assuming that you are also logged in.. To get the new features available for 2021, you have to purchase an upgrade Premium 2021.
