Video and Audio out of Sync in the Preview after Update

Marcel-Krmer wrote on 4/10/2021, 11:10 AM

Hello everyone,

I just installed the latest update for Magix Video Pro X and now I am having a big problem when editing videos.

The preview is no longer working properly, as it now tends to "glitch out" the video in the preview, causing it to permanentally be delayed by multiple seconds after the audio, which makes editing nearly impossible. Even restarting the programm does not fix it.

If anyone knows a solution for this (if there is any), I would be very glad to hear it. Otherwise, I guess I will have to wait and hope that the next update will fix this issue.

Thanks in advance!

@Marcel-Krmer

Hi and welcome to the forum.

There are several possible causes for the issue you are having, however we need more information - your computer specification, Windows version, the video format and a MediaInfo analysis of a video clip you are adding to the timeline that exhibits this behaviour - this topic gives your more information on the details and MediaInfo analysis required.

I am experiencing same problems in Movie Edit Pro... So I will not open a new topic, but add more info here as I suspect these are related. I mentioned my HW etc in this post (and also got recommendations which settings use to record screen capture video in OBS studio): https://www.magix.info/us/forum/hevc-movie-export-problem-unwatchable-second-part-of-video-file--1272059/

My source videos are now mp4 files recorded with OBS studio, with CBR 2000kbps in 1920x1080 mp4 format... Here is what mediainfo tells about my source files:

But when I am editing (and I am only using straight cuts and no effects) sometimes Magix gets confused and shows completely wrong preview, when I am moving cursor... So its impossible to do any quality editing, as I am basically flying blindly.... The export movie still works and creates correct video (which is not what preview shows me).

So, are these my source files? Or is this something else?

If my source files - what should I use in OBS instead?

My OBS settings:

Hi

. . . . So, are these my source files? Or is this something else? . . . .

This is something else and sounds like a similar issue another user had with a stuck cache - try clearing the cache - Edit, Empty undo and cache memory.

Thanks @johnebaker ... No matter what I do, I keep experiencing the same problem... Magix is unusable for me on this computer (AMD Ryzen 1800, Nvidia GTX 1080Ti, 64 GB ram, 2TB m2 nvme, win10).

I have tried moving Magix Edit Pro Premium 2021 license to my Lenovo X1 g7 (Intel i7-8550, 16GB ram, 1TB m2 nvme, win10) laptop, copying project and all video/audio files, and - surprise - everything works smoothly and without any issues at all.

So I suspect that Magix has some incompatibility problems with either AMD Ryzen 1800+ or Nvidia 1080Ti, or a combination of both... I have all Win10 updates installed, and latest Nvidia drivers...

I do not imagine working on my video projects on a laptop ... that's why I have powerful desktop PC...

So, what to do? Do I report this bug to Magix ?

Or can I try anything else to make my desktop work?

What is currently the best HW spec to run Magix Editor ? (as new RTX nvidia gfx cards are nowhere to be bought, and same for AMD?)

Hi Jaka,

As far as I can see your files seem to not have a very tight GOP structure compared to my files produced in OBS Studio. I do not have such editing problems although I think my bit rate settings are also higher.

Try the following adjustments to see if it helps.

Hey @CubeAce ... thanks for reply... But as the same project, with the same source video files work flawlessly on my intel laptop ... then I think they are OK, and the problem is with Magix on my AMD/Nvidia pc...

Hi Jaka.

It couldn't harm to see if it clears the problem with your other system and it would seem to me from the people who regularly reply to posts that most of us seem to have a lot less problems using Intel CPUs with inboard graphics chips using HD 630 graphics and nvidia cards capable of fully using Direct X 11.1 or higher.

That seems to provide the best handling solutions and performance gains for MEP and VPX providing all the relevant drivers are up to date.

As most of us do not use Ryzen CPU based systems it is difficult to say with any certainty as I believe they also come with or without inboard GPUs as well although I could be wrong on that point.

When something doesn't work there are sometimes more than one working solution due to the variations in hardware / software compatibility.

@Jaka-Mele

Hi

. . . . What is currently the best HW spec to run Magix Editor . . . .

The essentials are:

  • 10th generation Intel i5 or i7 processor with integrated graphics processor (iGPU) UHD 630, 4 cores minimum 6 - 8 cores preferable

  • RAM 16 GB minimum, 32 GB preferable

After that the options are more flexible, however:

  • OS and program Hard Drive/SSD 512GB minimum

  • Second drive HDD or SSD, or external USB3 drive if you want a laptop*, minimum 1TB for resources and projects.

  • Nvidia graphics card** is optional ie not a requirement, can always be added later (PC).

* If a laptop a 17" screen - 1920 x 1080 is ideal. A 4K screen results in icons, text etc being too small to read. Also ensure that both GPU's can be used - many makes of laptop disable the iGPU - the only manufacturer who clearly state that both are useable is Lenovo - I have a Legion 5i 17" Phantom.

** If added then the Studio drivers should be used instead of the gaming drivers.
